“Beautiful resort!”

Just back from my first visit to the Longboat Key Club - what a wonderful experience! The location is fabulous, the resort first class, and the hotel, views, and beach are spectacular. The hotel automatically upgraded me to a 10th floor room with commanding views over the Gulf, and the private little balcony was just the place from which to enjoy it. Spent time on the fine, white powder beach, which was not at all crowded and just lovely. The pool is large and warmly comfortable with excellent poolside service from an attractive and very friendly staff. Everything from check in to departure couldn't have been better. I've stayed at several nice hoels in the Sarasota area and this one is by far the best. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this resort!

Room Tip: Go for a Gulfview room on a high floor.

“Sort of Deluxe”

Ideally located at the beginning of Longboat Key...you are a very short drive from St. Armand"s Circle with restaurants and shopping yet directly on both the Gulf (great, great beach) and the inlet bay for fishing et al,. Hotel consists of multiple high rise, very ugly buildings with not much of a pathway to connect them. The main building has the main dining room where you also have breakfast and so you walk thru either a parking lot or on the edge thru ugly pathways to get to the main building. Rooms are spacious enough and most have terraces (ours overlooked the Gulf and beaches...very pleasant) Bathrooms could use some updating (tub/shower combo, leaky faucet etc) Staff is very friendly and helpful, parking is easy, food is better than adequate but not excellent....if you like large portions you will be in heaven

Room Tip: If you don't want to deal with the pathways, ask for a waterfront room in the main building, pre...

“Great beach and resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I cannot add much to the other reviews. I concur with all that has been said about this great resort property that is hidden in plane view. There is nothing that you will not enjoy about staying at LKC.

“A wonderful experience!”

My family of four (including 7 and 5 yr old children) stayed at Longboat Key Club from Jan. 25th - 31st. It was our first time in Longboat key and we were very happy with everything. We stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom suite with a 180 degree view of the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. The view was stunning and we loved hearing the sound of the waves every time we opened one of the three balcony doors. The suite included a full kitchen, washer & dryer and 3 televisions. The rooms were bright and airy and nicely decorated. Housekeeping made up our rooms promptly every day. All of the hotel staff we interacted with were pleasant and helpful.
While the hotel was at almost 100% capacity it did not feel busy other than at the pool which was busy in the afternoons. The beach is wide and long and very clean. It is a good place to look for shells. There are staff on the beach to set up sun umbrellas and lounge chairs for you. There was never any problem getting a chair or spot on the beach. From time to time one of the wait staff would come by to take drink orders. There are also sand toys for children to use on the beach. There is a kids' club for children for which there is an extra charge but we didn't use it.
We ate lunch at the outdoor restaurant next to the pool a couple of times which was good. We also had lunch at the Golf Club restaurant one day which was good. We didn't enjoy the dinner we ordered from room service one night so likely will not order room service again during a future stay.
The grounds of the resort appeared very clean and well tended, except for one or two pieces of garbage here and there on the beach (a plastic cup, broken shovel handle).
There is a Publix grocery store and a CVS pharmacy a short drive from the resort. The Mote aquarium is about 5 minutes away and is a good rainy day activity for the family. We also played mini golf at Smuggler's Cove in Sarasota and fed the alligators at the end of the game which was fun.
We didn't want to leave Longboat Key Club and Resort at the end of our stay which meant we all enjoyed our vacation immensely. We will return again next year.
