“Resort Excellence”

This is the perfect getaway spot for a romantic vacation. This resort is a chocie of many celebrities and for a good reason - intimate and private. Accommodations are in private bungalows nestled in tropical foliage. All bungalows are beautifully decorated, spotless, and offer a unique outside shower. If you are looking for excitement - this is not the resort for you. Activities here include; swimming, boating, fishing, and snorkeling. The pool is nestled in tropical palms and flanked by a great little tropical bar serving daily drink surprises. They offer massages, facials and other personal services. Food is not included and is a la carte. Be sure to secure a table on the beach at least once during your stay. Food quality is excellent, with an attention to detail. My birthday dessert was served with my name on the plate! Beautiful setting that can't be matched with tropical trees, Key Deer roaming the island, tropical birds and even a Green Iguana or two. Private boat service to shuttle you from their "welcome gift shop" to the island. Don't fret, while you wait for the boat you can sip and complimentary tropical libation. This is a must to put on your "To Do" list. Check availability and prices as some times of the year are more expensive that others. This is not a inexpensive resort, but what you pay is well worth it. Adults only - no children under 16 - but why would you want to ruin it with a teenager???

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here, since all the bungalows are private.

This property is spectacular and incredibly romanic. The setting for dinner may be the best I have ever experienced and the food was exceptional - certainly world class. However, beware the expectations of having a view like the ones on the internet. The internet caveat that they cannot guarantee which villa you receive is very real. The view from my bedroom was not of the ocean, but of a service area. I did have a sliver of a harbor view from my deck, but we could not sit there because of a horrible sewer smell from the service area next door. We asked for them to solve the problem or move us. They said the island was full so they could not move us and they tried to resolve the sewer smell but were unable to do so. We resolved the problem by spending all of our time outside the villa except to sleep. The beaches, water activities and numerous beautiful areas made this easy. It would have just been nice to sit on our deck or lay on our bed and open the windows to take in this paradise.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not stay in Suite 9 in particular. I would also avoid suite 10 if all possible as...

I chose Little Palm island to propose my girlfriend (This was last year). I couldn't have chosen a better place. Besides being a very pretty island resort - The service was just exceptional. All the staff members knew that this was a special night for us and they took extra efforts to make it special.
The customer relations officer that helped me make the arrangements was very amazing.
Out personal butler at the hotel was terrific
The food was awesome (The inroom breakfast is definitely worth trying).
The villa was beautiful, big and provided good privacy.
The turndown service is a must for all couples (They really make it special).
The island has various spots (on and off the beach) where couples can have private relaxing time.

All in all - it was an excellent resort and worth every penny spent, and disregard of the fact that it has a special place in our hearts - I would strongly recommed it to all couples looking for a romantic getaway!

Room Tip: Any villa should be fine. They all seemed to be fairly distant from each other. They make it really...

“Absolutely fabulous”

My husband and I spent two nights at Little Palm Island Resort In January. We had decided to treat each other with a mini-vacation for just the two of us as our Christmas present to each other. We could not have picked a better place! Neither of us had ever been to the Florida Keys but we picked it due to the average January temperatures, east coast US location and reviews on Trip Advisor. We flew into Key West International airport (which is tiny!) and our driver was waiting on us(round trip driver service cost 250 which is a bit expensive but we had no need for a rental car other than the thirty to forty minute trip to the ferry.) We were greeted at a little welcome area that had a gift shop, bathrooms, sitting area and outdoor dock. The boats on the mainland leave on the half hour and we had an enjoyable trip to the lush and private island of Little Palm Island Resort.
Pros:
1.The food is exceptional. We had one meal that was okay (cobb salad and a ceasar salad) but the rest of the meals were THE BEST WE HAVE EVER EATEN. We were shocked! gazpacho, braised short ribs, creamy cauliflower, omelets, burgers, lettuce wraps, asparagus gratin...simple foods which were transformed into something not so simple. I would recommend going over for the day if you live in the area just to eat at the restaurant.
2. Attentive staff...they were attentive without being obtrusive. I can't think of a single instance where our service was lacking. I would love to know the ratio of staff people to guests. It has to be high. We had friendly, highly competent service at the beach, bar, restaurant, spa, transportation and housekeeping.
3. Location.. the secluded, private nature of the island is a definite plus in my book.
We do not want to see or be seen when we are on vacation. We enjoy quiet, elegant surroundings without hustle or bustle. There are only THIRTY VILLAS on the island so we often felt we had the island to ourselves.
4. Size of the accommodations... The villa has a large bedroom with king size bed, adequate bath with outdoor shower and large sitting area. There are no TVs in the rooms.
5.Water toys are available without extra charge: kayaks, paddle boards etc ..we enjoyed paddle boarding around the 5 acre property.

Cons: There are very few cons but....
1. It is very expensive (both the accommodations, food and spa ...truthfully though I do not know how they provide all of the services that they do for just thirty villas). I would say yes it is expensive, but, yes you can see the value.
2. When we received the final bill on check out, there was one discrepancy that I noted. I called the front desk and left a voice mail and have yet to hear back from them. I trust it will be resolved shortly.
All in all, we loved it and are hoping to return next year!

“Bad Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

In 2010 my wife and I spent Thanksgiving on Little Palm Island. We enjoyed our visit enough to want to come back the following year, if we could get the same room (the only one on the island we liked). So prior to leaving, on November 29, 2010 we reserved our $1100 per night suite for Thanksgiving (Nov 23-26, 2011). To hold the reservation we paid a non-refundable $2200 deposit.

On November 14, 2011, that is, 9 days prior to our arrival, the hotel notified us that our reserved suite was going to be renovated during the time of our stay and it would not be available. A week before one of the busiest holidays, a resort with which we’ve had a reservation for a year told us we had nothing, giving us no time to make alternative plans for the holiday. Our long-standing reservation and deposit meant nothing.

I have a difficult time imagining anything dumber or more ridiculous than to plan a room renovation over a major holiday and not informing the in-coming guests of that little fact until 9 days prior to arrival. Not very smart management. Worse, in my communications with the resort, I never got any assurance that such a thing could not happen again. In fact the opposite is true: the resort managers did not plan to change any procedures in light of this fiasco. For them it is business as usual. That means this could happen to you. We have been treated better and with more respect in hotels charging a fraction of the nightly cost at Little Palm. There are plenty of great resorts with excellent service; go to one that has a strong reputation for customer service. Little Palm Island markets itself as a luxury destination; they have proven themselves unworthy of catering to this market.

My strong recommendation is to avoid this resort at all costs. My wife and I will certainly never return. How could we? We could never be confident that our reservation was anything other than a joke to management there. You could be the next victim.
