“the bates motel still lives...”

we got to the hotel on a late friday night, and the key was right where the attendant said it would be. Opening the door to the front you are hit with a stale, musty odor that knocks you over.
the room was described to me by the person on the phone as able to "walk out onto the beach". there was NO ACCESS to the beach from our room, it was down the hall. My daughter and i wrestled with the key to open the door and found the room, cold and the decor, so dated.
the 4 poster bed, covered with a quilt, and the very tiny couch reeked of that musty old odor.the tile floor was supposed to be white, but a rusty stain was EVERYWHERE.
we slept with the lights on , and I slept on top of the quilt, due to the VERY QUESTIONABLE SMELL coming from that as well. all night, i was fighting rolling toward the middle, as the mattress sank in the middle.
We slept with the light on, fearful of what would come out with the lights off, and in the morning, we had to juggle with the key to even, GET OUT.
This "quaint B and B", is so over-rated, and the "B", is horrible, and there was no second "B". we ended up going to the pancake house for breakfast.

“Perfect Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

We set out to see the fireworks by the ocean and came across this charming little hotel. The staff was friendly and courteous and made us feel like family. They went out of their way to assure our stay was fun and had everything we needed. The kids had a great time playing in the sand and we could sit back and enjoy the peacefulness of this little town. We only spent two days and can not wait to go back! The rooms were clean, the setting calm and all had a wonderful time - best 4th of July!!!

“"False Advertising"”

To Whom It May Concern,

I went to visit the hotel we reserved for 07/04/2011 at approx 5:05 pm on 07/03/2011. Upon our arrival the front door was locked with an after hours number of "954-592-9244" was posted on the front door. We were able to access the hotel from the back via the beach access. When I called the number someone by the name of Robin answered. Per my conversation with "Robin" I asked Robin to please cancel my reservation due to the hotel not being in the same condition or appearance as advertised on their web site. I explained my family was not satisfied by the poor exterior appearance, the uncleanliness in the common areas, the pool was misrepresented as it is very tiny and appears much larger in the picture. There was a person smoking out the window in their room. This is false advertising and we feel taken advantage of. Robin stated that she would gladly cancel my reservation however, unfortunately I would lose my deposit. I then found out when calling my credit/debit card company that the hotel had charged my a full night's stay and not just a deposit. I explained to Robin, that I had made the reservation in the morning and was canceling the same day. i also expalined that the person I spoke with never explained that I would be charged in full to my credit card. She said she was going to charge a deposit, not my full night's stay. Robin further explained that the hotel has a two night minimum stay and does not know why I was able to reserve for only one night, basically she said the receptionist had done us a favor. I am very upset with your hotel's misrepresentations and false advertising in your web site. I am formally requesting in writing a full refund to my visa credit card/debit card. Thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,

Erik B.

We our sorry Mr. Bosch feels this way however, as a local resident he had every opportunity to check out our facility prior to booking his room. Obviously, he knew where we were and that it was not far as he made 3 seperate trips to our establishment. during a holiday weekend, as many hotels do, we had a 2 night minimum requirement and yet we did extend him the courtesy of a one night stay as a goodwill gesture due to the fact he is a local resident.

As far as the "pool" which is an oversized hot tub, we can notbe responsible for how someone judges it's size from a photo. If he had questions it would have made sense for him to ask while on the phone making his reservation. In NO way do we fals advertise! Everyone knows photos can be subjective to who is doing the viewing with their own interpertation.

When reserving for one night, and within one day, it is customary (as with most hotels) that the full nights charge is the deposit. Which we tell everyone who is making the reservation the amount we will be charging before ever running anyone's credit card. Mr. Bosch also received a confirmation email outlining the reservation, charges and cancellation policy.

In regards to the common areas, we are on the beach (sand), it was a holiday weekend with a full hotel, other guests were using the common areas and no one can expect these areas to be perfect under these circumstances. Our other guests were enjoying themselves. As far as the window being open-that is every guests right to do so, although smoking is NOT permitted in our rooms, we do not have a "police patrol" over our guests. Our guests enjoy being here as we are friendly, courteous, clean and make them feel at home.

In respect to the deposit forfeiture, Mr. Bosch was offered a certificate for the exact amount of his deposit that could be used at any time in the following 90 days for a night's stay which he could have used or given to someone if he chose to do so.

We at the Courtyard Villa pride ourselves on making our guests stay feel like their "home away from home". At times there are people who do not appreciate all of our efforts in meeting and exceeding the individual needs of all of our guests.

“Charming & Romantic Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

We absolutely adored this place! The rooms were clean, a friendly staff, we were just steps from the ocean and it is quiet and quaint. This tucked away little hotel is in walking distance to everything (we never needed our car) the PERFECT escape from daily hustle and bustle lives. We had a great New Year's holiday in this new (to us) found hideaway. Definitely a hidden gem!

“Romantic, Charming, Fun and Friendly!”

I loved this place, Correction We loved this place! It was more than we expected. The rooms were absolutely clean, the staff was absolutely friendly and bent over backwards with our every request! The ocean was steps from our balcony! We were able to walk every where since the "charming little town" is less than a block. Trip Advisor is a great resource but I think it is also a place for people who are never happy and can never be pleased to vent - shame on them! Wendy and her staff are fantastic and the hotel is a step into charming old Florida! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this lovely gem! If I were having an event especially a beach wedding or reunion it would be here! We will be back
