We stayed here for one night...completely by chance, not by design. We were on the road, hungry, tired, and relieved to have gotten past the nightmare of I-4 congestion around Orlando. Taking exit 32, we saw the Quality and also a Ramada across the road. For whatever random reason, we chose the Quality.
I really dislike outside-entrance motels, but, again, fatigue trumped fear. After a quick burger at 5 Guys, we pulled into the Quality. Our request for non-smoking king was met, but when the desk clerk quoted the price of $49.95, my worst fears were realized. At this point I'm thinking we've made a colossal blunder.---this place truly WAS going to be a dump, or so I thought, based on price.
How wrong we were ! The room was spacious, clean and functional. Desk (free wifi), reading chair, mini-fridge w/microwave, coffee maker, ironing board and iron. The tv was decent size, and the large vanity was separate from the toilet/shower room. Excellent bed. We were very impressed and very comfortable.
The bathroom could have used some updating, but this is a small complaint. Everything worked properly. We were on a mission, no time to relax the next day, but took note of the large pool which was in an area that seemed well-maintained.
Things have clearly changed since the most recent review in '07, as breakfast was complementary.
Cereals and all the usual cold items you'd expect, plus a toaster for bread/bagels, DIY waffles, biscuits and gravy, excellent coffee. A much better deal than the Starbucks across the street, I'm sure.
Not sure what Lakeland has to offer, e.g., whether it's a destination in itself...but if that were the case, I think most folks could be quite comfortable here for several days or longer. For travelers just looking for a comfortable, clean place to lay your head before heading out again the next day, I think it's absolutely perfect: everything you could want/need, at an amazing price. A big thumbs up.
