My husband and I and our three year old daughter spent three LOOONG weeks at this place because our home was sold and we needed accommodations while we searched for a new home. We were on the Internet every day in the office or Internet cafe trying desperately to find somewhere else to go. We only went there in the first place because it had a separate bedroom, free electricity, cable, utilities and a washer and dryer. First of all, it is WAY too expensive for what you get. The room was small and everything just felt dirty. I wore my socks or slippers the entire time. We were going to stay another month, but luckily I found a WONDERFUL place with three bedrooms, two baths and a large kitchen with granite and a water dispenser for two hundred a month LESS! You would think Oak Plantation would have lowered the price for a long term renter. NOT AT ALL! The girl at the front desk even told me that even MOTEL 6 has Internet in the rooms, when I asked her why Oak Plantation does not have Internet access in all the rooms! A red flag. I found two dead roaches in the kitchen one morning. The fact that they were dead is a good thing, I suppose. The raccoons are a concern, but are to be expected in that area with all those trees. They are not afraid of humans. The peacocks are pretty to look at. It took an act of Congress and a lot of complaining on my part to get the maids to the room, but finally they came and after that, once a week, as it should be. It sounded like the people above us were moving furniture at 5 AM. That wasn't too great. My daughter and I liked the bracelet making activity every Friday by the pool. Overall, I would never stay here again and I would tell you the same thing...you can find something better. You cannot go wrong with Hampton Inn! Heavy, clean comforters, FREE delicious breakfast, maid service every day. Oak Plantation has thin blankets. The decor is very early 80's. Another thing I almost forgot...I let my daughter go barefoot once and after a couple of hours, her little feet were BLACK! Don't they shampoo the carpets??? The fridge leaked water. That's all I have to say.

Don't stay at this resort, no matter how many good reviews you read. When something seems too good to be true, IT USUALLY IS.

I traveled in a group of two couples in May of 2011 to the Orlando area and stayed at this resort. Check in was easy, area surrounding villas seemed quaint, and generally the villa itself was decent. When I say decent I mean exactly that. If you consider late 80's to early 90's beach decor, uncomfortable beds, and outdated appliances your cup of tea, then hell this may just be your Hilton. We spent one night at Oak Plantation with virtually no complaints until we discovered that there was a lizard in our room and 1:00 in the morning. If you know anything about Florida you know the state is teeming with tiny lizards. It's not a big deal, they're harmless really. We were just going to catch it and throw it outside. Upon moving our bed we discovered several dead COCKROACHES. Yes, you read that right. The vermin of all vermin. Directly below us as we slept. Naturally we were appalled and called management at the hotel as well as Expedia.com customer service, but not before we disgustedly moved the cockroach onto the kitchen floor, so that it's existence could not be denied by the staff! Staff was not helpful whatsoever. Offered us a different room in the same bug infested resort in a different building. To add insult to injury they only offered to comp our stay for one night. We weren't satisfied with this offer, as I'm sure anyone who was a thousand miles from home wouldn't be and demanded to be moved to another hotel. Just as we are on the phone with Expedia who comes to join the party but a tick! (As if needing to sanitize my belongings and buy new luggage wasn't enough.) Due to the fact that it was so late, we decided to stay in another room on the opposite side of the resort and switch hotels early in the morning. We pack all of our things into our rental car, drive to the other side of the resort which is comaprable to a large apartment complex, and walk to our new room which is on the back of a building facing the woods. Just as we think we are done with pests/animals for the day, we encounter two LARGE raccoons at the door of the room. I'm serious, these things were bigger than my dog. We finally got in the room and stayed reluctantly for the next 7 hours until we could change hotels at 8am. It was the worst hotel/villa stay of my entire life and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Side Note: This place is swarming with peacocks. Spring is their mating season, so we had the pleasure of hearing a God awful honking from these birds. Beautiful to look at, annoying to listen to.

By the far the one of the best resorts I've stayed at. Especially that it was so cost efficiant for a 2 week stay.I absolutely loved it. The vila room was very spacious and clean. Kitchen fully equiped, washer & dryer - very conveinant.The staff was curtious and friendly. Breakfast was great. The scenery is breathtaking..both pools were always clean and the hot tub always hot!
I do plan on going back in the future!

We made the trip down to Orlando area to spend a week at Disney over Christmas week. There were 3 of us. Whereas it's not high class, it was perfectly acceptable for our needs. The rooms were clean(ish--sometimes it's best just not to look all that closely), it was convienient to the parks, and it was exactly what we needed it to be. A place to sleep. The people at the front counter were friendly and helpful, but I wish they'd mentioned that they ran a shuttle to the parks before our last day there. We still would have rented a car, but it would have saved on parking.

I'd absolutely stay here again. I'd love to know, however, who the chairs at the counter are meant to accommodate, as the are about 6 inches higher than anyone under 5'8" can navigate gracefully.
