“I will never stay again.”

This is not a resort of any type. This is a regular apartment complex that rents out some of their units to tourists. We were in a corner where there was "mischief" we could hear all night long. The instructions this place provides clearly states you get 2 keys. We got one and no one could tell us until the next day only the owner of the complex has the keys to the deadbolts. We did not feel safe. You had to triple check the door upon leaving because it would appear locked, but if you pushed on it gently it would open. We paid 67.50 for cleaning. We had to leave a load of laundry washing, strip the beds, and have the place cleaned or else you would have to pay who knows how much. The carpets were filthy and you had to wear shoes or your feet turned black. I would never stay in this place again. Please look elsewhere for accommodations that are clean and safe for your family.

“Large spacious accommodation in a great location for all the theme parks”

We are thrilled to discover that most of the villas were 3 bedroomed ones so even though we had only booked and paid for a 2 bed we were given a three bed one. Our villas was well equipped with an American fridge freezer, dishwasher (plus powder) microwave, coffee machine, large brand new oven, washing machine (plus powder), tumble dryer, iron + ironing board, clothes airers, travel cot and hair dryer. The villa was large spacious and had 2 bathrooms. Each room either had a couple bed or 2 twin beds in it. The master en-suite had a shower but the other bathroom had a bath and an over-bath shower. The lounge area incorporated the dining area and kitchen and was light and airy. Both the lounge and the master bedroom had ceiling fans but the whole villas was air-conditioned. The 3 bedrooms had walk in cupboards and the master had a safe in it.

The villa was cleaned and the sheets and towels changed every 5 - 7 days. We were very impressed by the cleanliness of not only our villas but the whole complex. The master bed was quite soft and the showers not very powerful but useable. The reception area sold a few essential items, had a gym, computers, lots of brochures of things to do and free wi-fi. The communal pool was quite small and had salt water in it but was great for the kids. It also had a jacuzzi next to it plus plenty of sun loungers. The staff there were very helpful.

Our safe didn't work so the maintenance man came and fixed it. He was polite and fun.
There was a post pox on site and you could buy stamps from reception.

It was about a 10 min drive to the Disney parks and a 20 min drive to Universal (slightly less for Seaworld and Discovery Cove).

Overall I think these villas are in an ideal location, surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants perfect for a holiday to Kissimmee.

“Pleasant stay”

We were in Orlando for our daughter's Disney wedding and found the villas to be great for entertaining as well as relaxing. We stayed in a two bedroom unit and found it to be spotlessly clean as well as spacious. We appreciated the large walk in closets as they gave us a place to hang the bridal gown, bridesmaid dress as well as other wedding attire. The bride was staying at Disney properties and would not have had nearly the room or privacy this property offered.
Besides being very clean the villa was well supplied with everything from a great variety of kitchen necessities including dishwasher detergent and trash bags to laundry baskets and even fabric softener. We only had to buy food and personal items like shampoo and tissues.
Another review commented on the furniture and bedding. Our unit had all new tasteful bedding as well as more than enough spares if we chose to use pull out couches. The beds were very comfortable. We also had new brand new towels and wash clothes. The furniture was in good enough shape especially for a rental unit.
A snowstorm back home in New England extended our stay by a day and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
We also found the location to be great since it was far enough out to avoid most of the traffic problems we encountered in Orlando but close enough to make it no problem to get to Disney locations. We found all kinds of chain restaurants from Dunkin Donuts to full service restaurants within convenient travel. Marshall's, a Walmart Super Store and other stores are also nearby.
We didn't get a chance to use the exercise room, club house or pool but they all looked in great shape and were open while we were there.

“OK but needs to be revamped.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

Stayed in a 3 bedroom villa at Villas of Somerset for a weekend to go to Disney. The location is great. The villa was very clean & spacious but the furniture needs to be updated. The beds were very uncomfortable & you could tell they have been used a lot & in need of replacement. There was also 1 incident of having to kill a big roach in the master bedroom. It is quite a shame since I used to stay here regularly, but the property upkeep has drastically declined throughout the years. I'm not sure I would recommend this place to others unless you don't want to sleep well at night.

“REVIEW OF VILLAS OF SOMERSET”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2010

We stayed in these villas for 2 weeks at the end of May 2010. The villas are situated on Highway 192 near the junction of highway 535. Just look for the Perkins restaurant and the villas are 100 yards down the road on the left as you come from the 192. The villas are of a good standard but could do with a little updating with some of the decor. They are clean, a good size and have everything you need for two weeks stay. Washing machine, Tumble dryer , Cooker. Microwave Dishwasher, Towels, Washing Powder etc.

We booked a two bedroomed villa with virgin and were allocated a three bedroomed villa. We stayed at these villas 4 years ago and the same happened then. We flew with First Choice that time. Virgin was cheaper this time. The complex has some permanent residents on it as there are many villas. When we were talking to an american resident, they had to think where the 2 bedroomed vilas were as 90% are 3 bedroomed. So it looks like if you book a 2 bedroomed villa , you will probably get a 3 bedroomed villa anyway. There is no pool with the villa but a communal pool is only a couple of minutes walk on the complex. this is a nice size and kept clean.

The main reason we booked these villas is the location. Within a mile of the villas you have a choice of many different places to eat.. All of these are on the 192 which you are 100 yards from. TGI fridays a quarter of a mile away from the villa. Chillies a quarter of a mile the other way on the 192. We liked Applebys which was just 2 sets of lights east of Publix supermarket on the 192. Many restaurnts had meal deals where you could get a large 3 course meal for under $20 each. There is a chinese take away or carry out as the americans called it by Publix supermarket and the 7/11 garage. We used it a couple of times and 2 meals is plenty for 3 people. Just a change to eating in a restaurant everynight when sometimes you are too tired to be bothered to change after a long day in the park.

Just before Applebys there is a Target superstore where you can buy things like a decent hairdryer for $12. It saves trying to find a dual voltage hairdryer in the UK and the weight and space in the case. Also 1 less thing to fight over the travel plugs for.
We liked Publix supermarket and bought brekfast cereals bread drinks chocolate crisps(chips) and ice creams at a cheaper price than in the UK. Vacation food as shop assistant joked with us. Walmart is half a mile north up the 535 if you prefer.

Disney is 10 minute drive along the 192 or the 536 if you are heading for Typhoon Lagoon or Downtown Disney. For all other parks except these 2 I would drive along the 192 as very easy to find. Universal is a 30 minute drive from the villas. You can drive on the I4 to get there but the exit for Universal is confusingly on the outside lane of the I4. I would take the 535 and International drive as the more relaxing and tourist friendly option. You drive past Seaworld going this way.

We done all the parks as usual and they are what you expect. Discovery Cove I thought was a nice day but the dolphin swim is very expensive and I thought a bit overrated. You have to sign a disclaimer before you are allowed to go into the water. Dolphins are strong creatures and could hurt you accidentially so check your insurance policy. Must be some reason as to why you are made to sign it. You are able to touch the dolphin for around 4 minutes maximum in the experience as you are in a group of 8. You swim out about 10 yards for the dolphin to pull you back to the shore. The photographs are very very expensive as they know you have to buy them as its impossible to get any decent pictures yourself. One of the things you like to say you have done in your life, but I wouldnt do it again.

We took a VIP tour at Universal and Seaworld. You have to book early on line on the American websites to get a place. Works out around a £100 a person on top of your normal ticket price. These tours were excellent as you are really well looked after on the tours and you get every best seat for everything without any wait at all in the hot sun. The Seaworld tour lets you feed the Dolphins, Sealions and rays with fish. The guide gets these for you so no queueing to find the quota has been sold. They show you how to feed the dolphins properly so you can stroke them in the water without standing in cold salt water. In my humble opinion this is as good as Discovery Cove as for touching the animals.

Hope this gives you some information on the villas. If you want luxury, wrong place to go. But the location is excellent and they are clean and in a quiet location.
