We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Marathon Key, Florida for one night on our way to Key West. This is your typical Holiday Inn Express (not a full service Holiday Inn). It is not worth the exhorbitant price they charge for a room (the front desk clerk had the nerve to tell us that he would give us a discount if we stayed another night!). The walls in the rooms are thin-you can hear televisions next door. There was only 1 bar of soap in the bathroom, so you had to share the soap between the sink and the bathtub. They didn't provide hair conditioner. This is a relatively new hotel, but it hasn't been kept up well-there was rust and mold in the bathroom. Unless you have a reason to stop in Marathon on your way to Key West, keep driving to Key West. This hotel is outrageously priced-it costs the same as a nice hotel in Key West.
