Stayed at Indigo Reef for week at the end of Feb. 2011. Flew down to Miami then rented a car and drove to Marathon (the dirve is every bit of the 2.5 hours that googlemaps says it is, so budget your time accordingly). The condos were pretty sharp looking and really clean. The kitchen was well-outfitted with everything that we needed (and we often cook our meals when we travel). The beds were quite comfortable both the king my wife and I had and the two twins our children had (ages 10 and 12). The condo had a washer and dryer, which really helps as we don't want to check luggage if we can avoid it. Furnishings were ok, nothing to write home about, but they did the job for the week. Oh, almost forgot, there were 6 beach towels for your use in the condo. That's a real bonus in my book. On the downside, this condo, while great isn't dripping with warmth. In some of the other places we've stayed, there were cool odds and ends like board games, journals which past residents filled out, extra beach "stuff", etc. I kinda missed not having a place with personality, but I got over it pretty quickly. Also, the grounds are very pretty and well maintained.
Perhaps the coolest surprise was the 3 decks that the condo had. One off of our master bedroom, one off the living room and one off the kids bedroom. Most of the units looked to have a very similar layout, so I don't think you could wrong with any of them.
The pool was really warm and had salt (not fresh) water, which was a surprise. And the pool area was one of the nicer parts of the grounds...really big with lots of great plants/trees.
The condos had many older adults, but they were pretty tolerant of kids playing and splashing around (my son only got growled at once when he splashed a woman reading a book while lounging in the pool...my son says, 'come on lady, you're reading a paperback in the pool, what do you think is going to happen.')
Overall, I'd return to this condo complex, but I'm not sure that I'd go back to Marathon. We had a good time, but in a week, we did most of what we'd want to do. I would recommend that if you want a "party-boat" fishing experience (where lots of people go out to fish together), you use the Marathon Lady, which is right across the street from Indigo Reef. It was a really great time and they did great with my kids! We caught a ton of cool looking fish, really unique.
Also, within a short drive (or walk to the drug store) was most of what you need: gas, grocery, liquor, etc. I love not having to travel too far for this kind of stuff when on vacation.
