My wife and I just returned from a 5-night stay at the Seashell Beach Resort. After reading all of the mixed reviews online, we wasn't sure what to expect. We were both very pleasantly surprised. We stayed in Room 9, which is the King Studio with ocean view. It is a basic room but has recently been renovated so it was very clean and fresh. It has a full kitchen so we were able to buy groceries and do our cooking in the room. The king-sized bed was a little firm for my liking but that's the only complaint I have. This time of year (January) the sunrise is viewable from the room and balcony. We got up every morning to watch it. We did not expererience the odors some reviewers mentioned. The beach is clean and, more importantly, quiet. No jet skis or motor boats were seen or heard our entire time there. Housekeeping was very courtious and responded to all of our requests (extra towels etc.) and the room was always made up by early afternoon. It's conveniently located a few miles from downtown Marathon so it's again, quiet. We will definitely be back.

If you're in need of a place to stay overnight, this hotel is ok but I wouldn't stay for any other reason. It's not a resort, they don't have a pool or any amenities. The room was extremely outdated and dire need of just even some minimal sprucing up. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, it was sunken in the middle so I had to make an effort to not roll over on my kids.
Lots of road noise.
For what we paid, definitely not worth the stay.

This is a small hotel on North side of Marathon
( Grassy Key)
if you want the Ritz.. go to the Ritz,
but if you want a quaint laid back
place to stay ( only 60 miles to key west)
10 miles north of 7 mile bridge
this is a nice place.
The beach and grounds are more white coral than sand,
and the tide goes out around noon
and is back around 4pm and water is not very deep
near shore, but staff were very friendly and helpful.
They are biker friendly also,
becareful in parking lot with bike,
some parts are deep with coral /sand and it is easy to dump.

If you are looking for a local place with a Band
( everynight I was told)
The Brass Monkey by the K mart is the place to go
( say hi to Sammy the bartender!)

I have a very bad experience with the responsible persons about sales department, they are very lazy, very arrogant, late to respond and not efficient at all.
We are a very big company used to make big activities, I do not know what they are doing with the small companies....

They have to revise their strategy or they will lose a lot of business.
