Stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and this place is a dump. I wasn't expecting Marriott or Holiday Inn status, given the fact that this is the keys, just something clean and decent for the weekend. Our toilet was clogged the first night, called the number on the door, no answer. Called the next morning, someone didn't get to the room until close to 11am. They were nice enough to call a plumber after an interrogation about what i had thrown down the toilet (which was nothing). There ended up being two big roots stuck in the pipping. AC unit was broken, did not cool. They gave us a fan. When they came to "clean" the room, they brought their kids in the room, ate in our room and coloring books/hat/sunglasses in our room. God knows what else they did in there. I ended up leaving at midnight the day before checkout because some sketchy people checked in to the room across. Do not stay here! I paid, "IN ADVANCE" for this dump, which i have never had to do before. I agree with the blogger below, they have filled in what i left out. Spend your money elsewhere.

This was a lesson in updating ones guide books!! I booked this place on account of it's description in a guide book written in 2008. Three years later I can only assume that the owner has run out of money and got rid of all the gardeners, cleaners and maintenance staff. The book said the landscaping was "fantastic" and "lush" - reality, it's mostly dead, unswept, and colourless. It said there was an aviary with exotic birds - reality, a broken empty cage. It said pretty outdoor lighting - reality, darkened lamps, endless broken pathways with loose pavings covered over with pieces of rubber matting. It said each room had a pretty terrace - reality, filthy dirty plastic chairs and old sofas left outside, every room was had peeling paint curling up the outside, broken steps, The "200 ft of white sandy beach" was an area of bins overflowing with beer cans and boxes, broken furniture stacked up at the side, nowhere to sit and sea into which endless bits of metal piping and junk had been thrown. There was chewing gum stuck onto the bedside lamp, the most ancient airconditioner and the kitchen equipment consisted of paper plates and two pink plastic cups. There is a large notice in reception saying that no refunds will be made for early departures - so they are obviously used to people trying to escape as soon as possible! Don't touch this place, we were just sad that we wasted two nights of our holiday here and it wasn't even cheap. There are plenty of other very nice places to stay for the same price and some great restaurants nearby so Marathon is worth stopping at, but don't stay here. We wouldn't recommend this if it was the last place available.

I have traveled a lot but this is for sure one of my favorite places!!!

she does a great job and we never missed anything!and it also was one of the cheapest in the keys and we had our own little house!great!!!

Drove down to Marathon from West. Palm (vacationing from Ohio) looking to stay for a couple days to check out the Keys. First place we looked at was up the street and well over 100$ a night. Saw this spot and got a room for 2 nights ar 89$ each, then extended for another day with no hassle.. Air conditioner didn't work well in the room we were in the 1st night and were moved to a differant room the next night with no problem. I can see where other reviews were coming from, the resort has seen better days, with a little investment would be quite a spot, but they would probably be over 100$ a night if so. Watched sunsets at the rear of the property, great spot for sunsets. Amy, who checked us in told us of great spots to visit & eat, Pigeon Key was GREAT, ferry ride and tour 12$. Annette's Lobster house - great food. Would stay again.
