“1st time in Key West”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Before I book a room anywhere I look at what the real people are saying about a place and I look for the reviews that talk about what is important to me when I stay somewhere. My family calls be a travel snob but I don't think that is true. I just like things to be quality, safe and clean. With that in mind the Westin had clean rooms, flat screen television(it is 2012) I like for the bedding to be white and high thread count at least 400. The bed being comfortable is very important because my husband has a bad back. I don't understand why properties don't focus more on the comfort of the bed. The bed at the Westin was about a 8 from 1-10. Which I have never given a 10 and very few 9.
It is very important how the front desk checks you into your room. It seems like if that is bad, your stay usually is bad. I like to feel they care if I am comfortable and happy, this seems hard for most front desk. I have read the reviews about the front desk and manager. They must have had a meeting because my experience with both were good.
I was check into my room my Elliot whom is 7 feet tall so you can't miss him. Really nice guy, we did have a misunderstanding about my husbands birthday but he was so kind at check in it was hard to get upset with him.The manager Alberto made up for the misunderstanding and was very kind and made my husband's birthday special the next day. Thank you Alberto and Elliot for your great service:)
Key West is a very fun place and the Westin is right in the middle of it. Making it easy to walk down town to all the action. It is right where the cruise ships come in, but this that was exciting, just to see how very big the ships are and it just went with the action of Key West.
The Westin is a chain of hotels and resorts so if your looking for Something like the B&B's that are cute and with a lot of character like Key West this is not for you, but if you want someplace that is more detail in quality, safe, and clean this is it for Key West.
A note to the Westin......Get rid of the managers that are reluctant to make the travelers happy and keep the Elliot's and Alberto's.

“great location, but otherwise note worth the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights in February.

First when we made our reservation, in December, we were told that if we had to cancel less than 10 days before our stay, we would pay for ALL THREE NIGHTS, not the standard one night penalty. I asked to speak to managers, but received the same response. That seems excessive.

We had a "courtyard view." Our courtyard was a gated garbage area, with a giant industrial air conditioning unit. The shower had almost no water pressure, and there was no bathtub. One day there was almost no hot water. The rooms are tired-looking, and the air-conditioning units are the old noisy wall units. But the bed is very comfortable. There was a mini-fridge in the room, but it was bolted shut.

No one on the staff was rude, but they all seemed worn out, and no one was pleasant, friendly or welcoming.

So what's good here? The location is fantastic. Having access to Sunset Key is a real plus. It has a great beach, with drink and food service. We had one meal in the Bistro, and it was good. And drinks and appetizers on top of the deck is fantastic. Hard to beat watching the sunset from there. Gorgeous. The pool is nice, and there seemed to be enough chairs around it.

“Best mojito!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

I didnt stay at this hotel, my rating are for their mojito cart that I went to. I was told by a friend to look for the guy in the mojito cart in front of the westin because his mojitos were the best. And she wasn't lying. Hands down best mojito I've ever had. If I ever return to key west ill have to stay at the westin just to be near mr mojitos cart!

“This place is not worth the price”

I will start off by saying even if you prefer westin resorts do not book on westin site, the room is not worth it! We used Priceline and think that we over payed for what the "resort" offers.
We wanted to take the boat over to the other westin resort since the pool area had wet cushions from the rain the night before and were told it was 20 dollars a person! Keep in mind this is on top of a high resort fee here, insane!
Although the manager I other responses has noted the building rooms were renovated 3 years ago again and again, they are just not as nice as the other westin resorts. There are no tubs, the water pressure is awful, the towels were dirty, they have old school ac units and the Check in desk and lobby area are not in the main building. The staff seems angry and unhappy to be working here.
Positive is location. I would say it is worth 150 a night max! Also if you have points it is not worth it!

Thank you for your review. We're sorry you weren't happy with your stay. A few points of clarification: There is no resort fee at The Westin Key West Resort & Marina. The $20/person mentioned is for beach passes to Sunset Key beach. Beach passes do not include use of the pool at Sunset Key.

“A Must Stay !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed at the Westin two weeks ago. It was a first visit to the Florida Keys and this hotel was superb . My wife and I stayed in the annexe with an ocean view. The view from the balcony was excellent. It overlooked a small Marina, boardwalk and cruise terminal. The hotel itself was first class. Everything from cleanliness, facilities, helpful staff, sunset bar and restaurant was faultless. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone. The hotel is perfectly located to the resort of Key West. Plenty of shops , cafe's , bars etc.

Room Tip: Try and get an ocean view. Try room 203, great views of sunset, marina etc.
