“great hotel for a great price”

Stayed here for a long weekend and loved it! Right on Duval, so not far from anything--short walk to the bars/restaurants and 3 blocks from a quaint beach and Southernmost Point. Loved the jacuzzi tub in the room and the patio where we had made-to-order breakfast each morning, which was included with the price of our room. This was the best part of the experience hands down. Only reason not 5 stars was hotel and pool were a little worn down (which actually added to the charm) but totally worth the price you pay, as it's one of the least expensive hotels on Duval. The staff at the hotel was absolutely AMAZING, from the gentlemen at the check-in desk to the restaurant staff to the maid. Free parking on the side streets was extremely easy to find, so definitely believe the hotel when they tell you that. Thank you!

“We'll be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

There are so many wonderful things about the La Te Da ... but first and foremost are the people who work there ... everyone was wonderful, welcoming and fun! Thanks to Eric at the front desk for treating us so well -- and thanks to Mindy at the bar for making us feel like we were friends at a wonderful cocktail party! The kitchen staff prepared excellent food, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the atmosphere feels like you've stepped into a F. Scott Fitzgerald book. The entertainment is awesome! We enjoyed Debra & Patrick, Dave Bootle, and Christoper Peterson's Eyecon's show (a.m.a.z.i.n.g).

Room Tip: We've stayed in 2 rooms ... Room 32 was our favorite!

“Enjoyable Two Week Stay”

My wife and I stayed here over Christmas and in to the New Year. We had dined here earlier in the year and so we were fairly familiar with the place. Service is warm and friendly whether at reception, the bar or in the restaurant. We were booked in to change rooms halfway through our stay (as planned - we were late-ish bookers) and the transfer was seamlessly managed with a smile. On change-over day, our heavy bags were there in our new room when we returned later in the afternoon.

Breakfast is included in the price and is very good with three options plus fruit juice and coffee or tea. I would say that perhaps apart from offering the comp residents' menu, the hotel may be well served to show residents what else they can offer from the main breakfast menu. They would undoubtedly take a few more dollars if they did this. Service at breakfast was excellent and because of the length of our stay we soon got on very well with the waiters - all great guys.

The rooms were comfortable. We stayed in a de luxe and then a luxury for the second half of our stay. To be completely honest, they both needed a little TLC here and there; minor 1 hour maintenance jobs. There had been a roof leak at some point in the past in our de luxe room and the paintwork stains had not been attended to. Also, the Jacuzzi bath tap was very impossible to turn so we made do with showers (which was fine for us). On the cleanliness front the ceiling fan blades could have done with regular cleaning. These were minor in the whole scheme of things but worthy of note all the same but also they should be easy enough to remedy so that they are not noted by guests in the future.

The pool area was a nice place to chill out in the afternoon where the sunshine danced through the shade of the poolside palm trees. It has a truly charming feel - wooden decks and white painted balustrades everywhere around the pool - they must need a lot of maintenance - some areas more than others it has to be said. This after all is not a 7 star luxury resort with artificial perfection, painted smiles and corporate-style meets and greets. The staff made us feel very comfortable and at home here.

Would we return here? We wouldn't say no but then we would probably want to try somewhere else just for the sake of trying somewhere else and not because we didn't enjoy our stay here (because we did). Last time we were in Key West, we stayed at the Southernmost on the Beach - that was good too but we like a change.

Room Tip: If you are a couple and you prefer to share a bed, go for a room with one large bed rather than two...

“Enjoyed our stay on Duval St.”

My wife and I stayed at La Te Da. The price was reasonable and location was very good. It was a bit of a walk to the Mallory Sq. area but not bad. The hotel is close to the "Southern-Most" area and the Butterfly attraction (very nice).

There are parking meters in front and we used one during checkin and then moved the car to the side street (free) and left it there the whole weekend. The meter rate is high so it was not hard to find one.

The room (one up from standard but almost identical to my sister's standard room) was very nice. The A/C was a bit noisy but it had a remote control. There is a refrigerator and flat-screen TV. It was clean and just off the pool.

There is a nice restaurant and the room included full breakfast (the bacon was hefty and crispy - very good).

There is entertainment - a few different shows different nights (did not go) and a couple at the piano in the bar which was nice.

The staff was friendly and helpful.

I wouln't hesitate to go there again.

Room Tip: Rooms have individual A/C units. If not hot outside, just turn it off or off during the night. Check...
