“Great and Friendly place!”

This place was great -- Is now called Duval Quarters. It is in an excellent location right off of Duval Street. It is very reasonably priced, considering location and services. They are a small hotel, with just a few rooms. Becky, the manager, was wonderful help with everything from finding a parking spot to recommending all the best local restaurants.

The room was quiet, clean and bright with a private bathroom, TV and coffeemaker. The furnishings were nice and there was plenty of space. We were woken up by the roosters our first night, but I can't imagine how you'd avoid that, since they seem to be all over the island.

Restaurants we tried and thought were great: Banana Cafe, PT's (fish sandwich) and Santiago's Bodega

“Cute Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2006

We have stayed at the Abaco Inn three times in the past four years and while it is very cute, I believe it is under new management and not as good as it used to be. It feels like a private home with 3 rooms (2 up and 1 down) all with private baths. It is very quiet and you don't ever see anyone else, there is not a pool but a little courtyard out back where you can sit and read the paper, and drink your coffee, or wine at night.

Like I said the first 2 times were great, but last time I have to say the air conditioner unit didn't work properly and red ants had gotten into the room somehow. Too bad, I hope they fix the problem because we loved staying there in the past! It is kind of a long walk from Mallory Square, it is closer to the Southernmost Point, but you can easily walk eveywhere. You get what you pay for, it is very affordable but not very fancy. There is a convenience store around the corner which is great for grabbing snacks or drinks.

“Abaco Inn not as advertised.”

Not at all what I expected. The inn does NOT have the curb appeal that it advertises on its website. And, we felt abandoned after checking in...we didn't get the room we wanted, and trudging up the rickety, teeny-tiny, spiral staircase isn't pleasant.

“Great Little Inn”

Thanks Abaco for a wonderful vacation. We stayed at the Abaco Inn 4 nights, and it was a very pleasant. Although the Inn is very small, the room was very comfortable and roomy. The staff was very accommodating and helped whenever they could. GET A BIKE! As is the case for all of Key West, do not bring a car, the Inn only has one parking space (more than other inns that we saw). Get a bike and use taxi service, your life will be much easier. We would definitely stay at the Inn again.

“Not as pleasant as you might think..”

From first glace it is a cute little place to stay but the window air condition unit was very loud. Every morning there were rosters calling aloud at the break of dawn. We did see one roach in the shower.

The manager, Debbie made us settle the bill the first day of our three night stay. Upon departure she harrassed us again about paying the bill but had to remind her that we already did.

Next time we'll spend more money and upgrade to be treated better!!
