We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2 bath unit here for a week on an Interval exchange with a group of friends, and it’s a beautiful spot to unwind and relax when you’re not exploring the rest of Key West. Best part is the free-form pool w/ beach entry and super comfortable canvas beach chairs and foam floating mattresses. We enjoyed the tiki bar too w/ the daily drink specials (especially when Jim was there). The rooms are nicely decorated in simple tropical colors, love the big screened-in porch w/power outlet, so we could sit in the morning and have coffee, and work on the computer, and the spacious master suite w/ Jacuzzi tub and was great. The kitchen wasn’t super large, but fine for the minimal cooking we did on this trip.
Service was very friendly, and they promptly brought up everything we needed if they had it (pan, baking sheet, extra shampoo, etc.). Check in was easy. Free parking, free wi-fi (and 24-hr service line for tech issues which I utilized once). No gym on site, which was disappointing, but we ended up renting bikes for the week and guests can use the (small) gym at the Hyatt Key West downtown.
Activities: not many activities on site for a timeshare – mostly just a welcome breakfast, a 1-hour margarita party, and that’s about it. Would be nice if they added yoga by the pool or water aerobics, water volleyball or something a couple/few times a week.
Location: it’s about 4 miles to the heart of Duval St (Hogs Breath Saloon/Capt Tony's etc). We rented bikes and rode them in to town 1-2 times/day, and it generally took us about 20 min there, and about 30 mins back (the wind always seemed to be blowing against us on the way back). A good way to get some exercise, and if we didn’t feel like riding back at night, we called for a cab w/ a bike rack (just $5/person to get back). It would be nice if the Hyatt had a free shuttle, like the Marriott next door does (the Hyatt shuttle is $5/person each way - about the same price as a cab - and stops running at 10 pm).
Only other negative is that they were doing really loud brick-work construction almost every day of our trip (including weekends) which was not very relaxing when we were sitting on our patio or at the pool.
Overall a nice, relaxing timeshare and wonderful vacation, although if I return to Key West, I think we may try to stay downtown. I'm rating it 4 out of 5 - I’d rate it higher if it had more activities, didn’t have the loud construction going on, and was either closer to town or had a free shuttle.
Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the construction until it's completed
