“Nice pool area to relax.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

This was a great hotel with an awesome pool area to relax at. There was a tiki bar with food and drinks to have by the pool. The room was nice and right across from the pool. All the staff was extremely nice and helpful.

If I had to say one negative it would be the location. We had to drive to Duvall street and other places to eat, shop, etc.

I would stay here again.

“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed for two nights (Jan 17/18). We had a nice sized king room with our private balcony overlooking the pool/tiki bar. We arrived early and the staff was quick to accommodate us without hesitation. My girlfriend sat by the pool while I settled in at the bar. Tim was very entertaining and knowledgeable. At night, we had Candy working the bar who was also very knowledgeable about the area and places to check out on the island. The only thing that would make this hotel top notch would be a courtesy shuttle to the downtown area. Great value and I can't say enough about the bartenders!!! Made the stay that much better...

“this is an average hotel with some problems”

This hotel is not bad but I would note recommend staying here. Instead, I would recommend staying at the parrot key or doubletree for a little more money. The photos on the internet are gorgeous. While they are accurate, they can be a bit deceiving with gorgeous camera angles and shots of the best rooms. The pool is impressive during the day and gorgeous at night when lit up. The hotel is right on top of a major thoroughfare and has not grounds to speak of. The rooms are small and do not smell clean. The bathrooms are tiny. Most of the rooms do not have balconies, as the hotel indicates in its website. The TV was impressive. The room was mostly okay, but there were some cleanliness concerns. The bedspread had blood stains, including streaks of blood on it. I left a note for housecleaning, but it was still not changed. I had to call down and request a replacement. I didn't see any indications of bed bugs, but the streaks of blood were disconcerting. The TV was broken when we got to the room, but the staff promptly fixed it. The toilet broke, but the staff promptly fixed it (kudos to a young Latin gentleman who singlehandedly took apart the toilet and brought it back to working order in a matter or minutes). The staff was as helpful as they could, but the property could use some work to bring up to 3.5 star quality that would merit paying $200/night. It is in New Town Key West, a short drive from old town.

“5 star pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I guess I echo most of the reviews here. The pool and pool area are fantastic. The bartenders do a great job and the drink prices are reasonable. I was aware of the location from Duval street before I booked it, so no surprise there, it's a short cab or bike ride to the action.

PROS
- pool and tropical setting
- friendly and experienced bartenders
- good food at cafe and reasonable prices
- value compared to other key west hotels
- generous king room is very large, comfortable bed and bathroom
- staff overall is friendly, they seemed a bit overworked
- free parking
- concierge service
- the interior decoration of the hotel is superb, all with a tiki theme throughout and nice furniture in the rooms

CONS
- fountain wasn't working in the pool
- rooms overlooking hwy 1 are too noisy to have balcony door open
- check in was delayed over an hour due to systems malfunction, though they did give us 2 drink 2 tix to tiki bar
- cleaning staff was sub par, there was a large pile of sand in our hallway for 3 full days before they vacuumed it up..other times the cleaning carts were left right in front of our door.

Overall i would recommend as a nice place to stay in key west if you don't mind being away from walking distance to Duval and want a nice place to relax.

Room Tip: if you don't like traffic noise, avoid the rooms overlooking the ocean and busy highway

“Good Value for the Money- Little Far from Duval”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This property is very clean and serene! The decor was updated and nice. We loved how quiet it was at the pool. Normally we stay on Duval or near Mallory Square, but decided to try this. Only complaint would be the distance from Duval.A shuttle should be offered (like they do at the Marriott down the street). We went to Duval daily - but the cab rides were in the $40 roundtrip (w/ tip). IHop is next door and has great breakfast. There is a Publix and Outback Steakhouse within close walking distance too!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front side of the hotel are a bit noisy, but have the best view.
