This is an interesting place to stay in Key West. I'm sure there are other inns and hotels with more stylish decor and modern amenities; however, the location can't be beat if you want to be close to Duval Street. The Inn is literally right around the corner from all the action on Duval, yet it was quiet and peaceful. The exterior of the inn is gorgeous, and the mansion is certainly interesting. I was a little disappointed in our room located in an annex by the pool; it had a very "floral granny" look to it rather than a Key West, you're almost in the tropics vibe. I had requested a room with two beds, but the mattress on the trundle bed was so soft, we couldn't use it. The room was spacious, though, and the large shower and refrigerator were much appreciated. For the prices charged, the inn really needs to upgrade to flat screen televisions.
What we really enjoyed were the breakfast and cocktail party by the pool. Staff set up an open bar and guests just poured whatever they wanted and however much they wanted, while a very entertaining piano player provided music. The cocktail party also included a generous buffet of chips, dip, salsa, vegetables and other appetizers. Breakfast was quite good, with omelets or eggs made to order, bagels, fruit, cereal, bacon, sausage, hash browns and plenty of juice and coffee. The inn attracts a very interesting mix of people, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests at the tables lined up by the pool. The Curry Mansion Inn is a very relaxing, historic place to stay; with a few updates it would be just about perfect.
