“Great Location and Cocktail Hour; Could Use an Update”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

This is an interesting place to stay in Key West. I'm sure there are other inns and hotels with more stylish decor and modern amenities; however, the location can't be beat if you want to be close to Duval Street. The Inn is literally right around the corner from all the action on Duval, yet it was quiet and peaceful. The exterior of the inn is gorgeous, and the mansion is certainly interesting. I was a little disappointed in our room located in an annex by the pool; it had a very "floral granny" look to it rather than a Key West, you're almost in the tropics vibe. I had requested a room with two beds, but the mattress on the trundle bed was so soft, we couldn't use it. The room was spacious, though, and the large shower and refrigerator were much appreciated. For the prices charged, the inn really needs to upgrade to flat screen televisions.

What we really enjoyed were the breakfast and cocktail party by the pool. Staff set up an open bar and guests just poured whatever they wanted and however much they wanted, while a very entertaining piano player provided music. The cocktail party also included a generous buffet of chips, dip, salsa, vegetables and other appetizers. Breakfast was quite good, with omelets or eggs made to order, bagels, fruit, cereal, bacon, sausage, hash browns and plenty of juice and coffee. The inn attracts a very interesting mix of people, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests at the tables lined up by the pool. The Curry Mansion Inn is a very relaxing, historic place to stay; with a few updates it would be just about perfect.

“NZ review of Curry Mansion!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Recommended to stay by local Key West Info centre. Friendly staff, exceptional location only 20ft from party central on Duval St. Great value, included full b/fast, parking, evening open bar & nibbles. Washer & dryer. Small but great pool. Surprisingly quiet for it's location. Room was very presentable & clean with huge shower. Could update the TV even though we didn't watch it, but WiFi was handy. We would highly recommend this property for value, location & atmosphere.

“Visit...But Don't Sleep There Unless You're in the Main House”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Staying in Key West, our family had been excited to stay at the Curry Mansion, as it had seemed to have a lot of character, and a great atmosphere. Upon arrival we were greeted in a very welcoming way...and the rooms reminded me of those at the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. Exploring the Mansion, and the Widows Walk upstairs was breathtaking...above anything, make sure to tour the Inn. However, after coming home at around 10:30...my sister and I were trying to fall asleep, and between the Air Conditioner turning off and on noisily every half hour, the obnoxious bright light blinding us and preventing any chance of sleep, and the ridiculous drunk couple next to us arguing at 2:30 in the morning...neither of us got any sleep! Walls are paper thin, and the light was horrific. We tried to tie towels to the top of the windows to block out the light, but it still came through. The couple next to us came home drunk, and we had to listen to them arguing for about an hour about the girl dancing with another man at the bar. As entertaining as hearing them screaming at each other was, sleep was out of the question. Sleep in the Main House, simply tour it, or don't stay.

Room Tip: Stay away from the outside rooms. Stay in the main house..definitely.

We always welcome comments from our guests, so that we may learn from their experience. We work really hard to ensure a great experience for everyone that chooses to stay with us. We are sorry to hear of these guests' poor sleep quality and have taken steps to control the ambient light in that area, but it is difficult since there are stairways and the pool area which means we must have adequate lighting for liability issues. We have changed out the porch lights with a lower wattage and changed some of the flood lights to colored bulbs which is pretty and effective.
I see by the date that these sisters were here over New Year's Eve, which is the second busiest holiday here in Key West, which also is the noisiest and perhaps the most boistererous! Sixteen of our 28 rooms are in the guestwing where it sounds like they stayed and it is the preferred building by our many, many return guests. You can read many reviews that mention staying in the "annex" or guestwing by the pool area and their favorite rooms located there. We have never had anyone complain of "thin walls" before. The couple that were fighting were probably out by the pool area and if only the sisters had called our night time security the situation would have been quickly handled.
We're glad that they found some positives about their stay with us and think that a second stay would win them over completely!

“Wonderful place, great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We have spent 2 nights at the curry mansion and found it very good: great location, nice staff, excellent breakfast (with egg station and home made cake) and the happy hour concept is very original. It is sometimes noisy, but what would you expect when you are in the middle of the action? Very, very good.
