The room I was in was not in good shape, even though recently redone. Internet mostly did not work. Guest laundry was out of service. It also seemed allmost any request needed to go to "the owner" but they were not on site.

Views on bayside of Largo are terrific, especially sunset, but ...

Takes 1 hour each way by boat to get to dive sites. Dive sites are good for Fla, but disappointing compared to Carribbean, Honduras, Asia. Rooms are quaint, but out dated. No Internet access unless you sit outside office for wifi.

Dive personnel are very pleasant, but very disconnected from office. Owner and office management are rude/offensive.

Had several other guests also reflect poor experience with office staff.

Booked a two night stay, Thanksgiving and Friday, planning to dive. Was quoted a price above their website price. I attributed this to Thanksgiving weekend. Fri. a.m. dive was canceled due to rough ocean conditions. Afternoon dive was also canceled. I was told about the afternoon cancellation about 12:30. When I learned from other divers who were staying there, but not diving there (wonder why), that other dive shops had gone out that day, I decided to check out of the "dive resort". I was told by the front desk person that I would have to pay for the second night because her employer, Amy Slate, had very strict rules. When I explained to her that I had no interest in staying in a mediocre room at a dive resort with no diving, she called the owner. A conversation ensued with the owner trying to attribute blame to a new employee. I commend the front desk person for ending the conversation and not requiring me to pay for the second night. I found a much nicer place to stay and a much better dive shop.

I quickly got over the experience and enjoyed my stay in Key Largo. Unfortunately, when I stopped into a discount hotel office to continue my vacation, I learned I could have booked the room I had at Amy Slate's at more than fifty percent less by booking through them.

Apparently at this "resort" Amy Slate will charge whatever the market will bear.

I went to the keys without firm plans, although I had always wanted to scuba. The visitor's center sent me to Amoray for a room, and then I realized that they are a full dive shop.

After inquiring about dive certification they set me up with Dan as an instructor. The first day went so well, I added on a second day. I studied at night and took the final exam after the dives and voila! Thanks to Dan's patience and thoroughness, I'm now an open water diver!

I also like what great care they take with their boat and gear.

The rooms were nice - I started out with a little cabin and upgraded so I would have a kitchenette and view of the water.
