“Not bad, not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The pictures make this place look much nicer than it really is. It wasn't BAD per se, just not special. My expectations were high based on the pictures and the fact that we were paying over $200/night. The pool area is nice, with a cute bar. Breezers had a good happy hour which we took advantage of while watching the superbowl. The beach area is small but pleasant enough. The room was fine as well. So, nothing spectacular... just "fine".

“Okay for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed only one night as a stop before going further south to the lower keys. The hotel is okay for one night but I would not choose it for a vacation. The bed was super hard and uncomfortible. The water presure in the shower was low. The bar was not so inviting or relaxing, with only few people in it. The outside features we like was a hammock and some sitting areas. But the water is no swimmiable, full of seaweed and super shallow (I guess tipical for the keys) The pool looked fine but we have not used it. The room we had had partial water view and also partial main road view which generated tons of noise from the traffic. It was hard to sleep. I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room facing the ocean and NOT the road. Even the rooms on the side of the buildi...

“pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed at the Marriott for 2 nights during the Key Largo Seafood Festival, Jan 28 & 29. Had a room on the 4th floor facing south, which gave us a decent partial view of the bay from a balcony. Room was clean with comfortable beds (did not get a king bed as requested). Pool area was nice and adjoined a "beach" area with a great view. Did not eat in the restaurant, but i did overhear another couple praising the food. Breezers bar stays open until 11pm and was a good place to have a drink, ok, drinks, and enjoy the view. Should stay open later than 11pm on weekends. Getting a parking spot in the underground garage close to the elevator was convenient. The value was not that good. Even with a Florida resident discount, it was $262 total/night. The rate was probably ok for the time of year, but under $200 a night would have been a fairer value. I would stay at this Marriott again.

“Nice Beds, Noisy Traffic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here one night using Marriott points.
The Good:
Let me check in early (10:30am)!
Upgraded me to a 2 bedroom suite (although I was the only person staying there)
The beach is not crowded and you can even move your chairs down a ways and have the beach practically to yourself
Some good restaurants within walking distance.
Clean room, great beds.

The Bad:
If you bedroom faces the road instead of the ocean, you will hear traffic whizzing by at all hours.
The entire hotel looked like it could use a thorough power wash.
A small outdoor conference area is sometimes rented right between the ocean facing rooms and the pool. The group that was there were soooo loud.
Don't bother eating at any of the on-site restaurants, not good. Walk someplace off of the resort to eat.
It didn't feel all that resort-y too me. Just seemed a little run down and depressed.

“A long weekend in the Upper Keys”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Booked this hotel through the hotel's website and asked for upper floor, extra pillows and a king sized bed. Got the latter but not the former. Our room was at the end of the building and we did have a wrap around balcony with a view of the sunset and water. The elevator was out one of the days we were there and so not having a top floor room was OK. The beds are elevated and if you are under 5' 5'' you need a step ladder to get into bed.

The ventilation was loud and for some reason the exhaust was in the closet,

Expected to have robes for the price of the room. Disappointment!

Staff were pleasant and attentive, though on our last morning our breakfast took longer than usual as the cook was not standing by his station. There were few customer that day and I guess he went off to do something else. An evening meal at the restaurant on the open porch was very pleasant and the food quite good. Ate sea food which was very fresh and well prepared.

Grounds are well maintained and the head gardener is very proud of his work. Pool is attractive. The beach is artificial, small and not too inviting.
