“Very Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed one night at the Holiday Inn on our way back from the Lower Keys. This is a very average hotel. We arrived before 3pm check in time and no effort to get us in our room early, we were told "it's being cleaned" - which was still the case 2 hours later. Front desk staff were pretty indifferent.
Once we got into the room, it was fine, though the hallway smelled a bit moldy (tile would probably be an improvement over the carpeting, which has seen better days). The room itself was a typical medium sized hotel room with a decent size balcony - but the AC unit for the room next door vented onto our balcony, so not the greatest design.
We were on the 2nd floor of the building with very pretty "marina views" which looked like by far the best part of the hotel. The other rooms all overlook either parking lots, or the pool area, which we thought was dreadful - a concrete expanse surrounded by chain link fence with a very worn looking Tiki Bar.
As a Holiday Inn rewards members we got coupons for free morning coffee from the restaurant, but stood at the hostess desk for ages waiting for someone to come. I finally had to tackle the guy clearing tables who was trying his best not to make eye contact.
We were only in Key Largo briefly but thought the Hilton and Marriott both looked a lot nicer than the Holiday Inn.
This hotel was an ok place to sleep on the way through, but that's about it.

Room Tip: Go for the marina view, all others look at parking lots or concrete pool deck

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us! We appreciate you as a Priority Club member selecting our Holiday Inn Key Largo for your travels. We do take all comments seriously and appreciate all the feedback we receive. Although standard check-in time is 3:00pm, there are times when the guestrooms will not be ready due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. previous guests checked out late). Our staff takes great pride in keeping the wonderful landscape lush surrounding our pools and Tiki Bar. The service you received at our restaurant, however, is not standard and will be addressed.

I am pleased that you enjoyed our premium rooms - marina view guestrooms with private balconies.

As a Priority Club member we hope you enjoyed the amenities provided and hope your travels through the Florida Keys were memorable.

Sincerely,

Hotel Management

Nice Rooms equipped to good standard as you would expect with this chain. The hotel groups are good with nice pools and a decent restaurant. Right next to the harbour and in walking distance to other eateries.

“good location and big rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The rooms have balconies and are pretty clean. The hotel appeared a little run down, doors scratched, cushions need to be replaced (I had no guts to sit on the sofa or in the chair.) Free internet, nice all you can eat breakfast. The front desks people have no sense of hospitality though: nobody smiles, nobody even looks at you. They check people in and that's it. The hotel has more than one building, so do not get your luggage out before you check in. All buildings have two floors and I did not see any elevators. Maybe they put people with disabilities on the first floor.

Room Tip: I don't think they have elevators. If one needs an elevator to go upstairs may want to check wit...

“Really nice Holiday Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed here for two nights. It's a really nice Holiday Inn.
We had a ground floor room facing the pool, which was very pleasant. We had a patio area outside the room, with chairs, which was very pleasant to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine or cocktail.
The pool area is very nice, with a tiki bar (service here could have been better).
The marina is next door, featuring the African Queen boat. A very pleasant walk around there.
We had breakfast in the restaurant one day but did not think it was great value for money.
We ate dinner at the Coconuts Restaurant (nothing to do with the hotel but close by) and again did not think it was very good value for money.
The liquor store across the road was handy - we bought our wine from there and then just sat outside the room near the pool with a (much cheaper!) drink!
Free car parking and wifi.
All in all a very pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights or so.

Room Tip: Poolside was fine - I guess the ones facing the marina must be nice too.

“Good to sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

You're probably coming to key largo to dive, because there is nothing else (but the diving is amazing!). So for that, this place is fine. Cheap, pretty clean, and close to dive shops (go to captain slates and dive with Adam). Room 119 has a great roll in shower and low bed for those who need.
