Stayed here for 4 days as part of a business trip that was extended a couple days. The property was beautiful as expected, and the service was exceptional. The prices are what one would expect at a Ritz, and they charge for everything. But there were a couple issues that are worth noting.
First, the poolside chairs. Most of the cushions were either moldy, torn, or both. Torn cushions may not sound like a problem, but when the top and bottom pieces are no longer attached you can't sit in the chair without sliding off. And they were left out all the time and were soaking wet in the morning from rain, sprinklers etc. Not a huge deal, but its something that can be fixed easily. Second was the mattress. Recently it seems like all top shelf hotels have invested in very high quality bedding from the mattress up. This was an old, well worn mattress with a blanket on top covered with a sheet to make it seem as if it were a pillow top matters. Last, and most important, was the concierge service. The concierge had absolutely NO KNOWLEDGE of restaurants anywhere in Miami or the Key. When we wanted to find a yogurt/ice cream place off the property, we were told there were none on all of Key Biscayne. Of course, there is one literally across the street. And the conversation around suggesting a restaurant for us off the property was a joke. Her answer was to hand us a print out of restaurants that we could call.
I would normally rate this a "4" but given the rates and extras, I would expect more.
