In the midst of multi floor renovation we were given a room next door to a room with floor installation occurring. (= incessant hammering). We were told construction would be over by 5:30 pm. Did not stop untill 7:45pm. When mentioned to front desk the explanation was the construction ran later but was completed so it would not continue on the morning as we were first told. Hammering, sawing, drilling started at 8:39 am. When asked how stay was when decided to simply leave in am, I mentioned construction noise made it impossible to have a quiet retreat. Only verbal appologies offered and front desk told me they hoped we would return after MARCH when renovations were completed.

I don't think so.

Otherwise the Ritz was as expected... Top Notch. But this total breakdown and lack of service recovery at a resort chain that is a global leader in service excellence was a remarkable and notable abject failure. Either the varied and incorrect statements we recieved in regard to the construction noise were outright lies or illustrated profound ignorance. Either option damning. Lack of appropriate service recovery equally dismal. I am VERY disappointed with this property's management that overshadows all the other outstanding amentities of this peerless chain. We found a much less expensive option with a better ocean view for a QUIET stay.

Room therefore terrible and value considering room pricing even worse.

I prefer this to the Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. It is just as upscale but less formal. The pools are awesome for kids, the game room is good for teens - even an indoor pool.

It is very quiet in the winter months. We enjoy playing cards by the big fireplace off of the lobby. The bar menu is broad enough to cover all appetites.

Great staff very personable and unified in making guests feel important

I’ve been coming to Amelia Island since I was a little girl and remember when this hotel was built!! It was all the hype and it still is!! This was my first stay at a Ritz and I was not disappointed at all! Everyone was very friendly and very willing to go out of their way to help! We had an oceanfront suite and it was amazing! They were doing renovation but there wasn’t much noise at all, until the last morning…but I was checking out anyway so it didn’t bother me. There were a few things closed while we were there, Eight, Ocean Bar and Grill, and Salt. I was extremely disappointed that Salt was closed, that is my favorite restaurant, but we’ll be back in February. We had breakfast each morning in the Café and it was excellent, best pancakes I’ve ever had!! I just truly appreciate how nice and friendly the entire staff are, so THANK YOU and I’ll see you soon!
