“relaxing at the surf”

Great condo. We rented a one bedroom with sleeper sofa and washer/dryer. Balcony access from living room and master bedroom on 2nd level B114. Great place for small kids and parents that want uncrowded beaches and pools. Condo had 2 kiddie and regular pools, beach access for resort only, chairs and beach supplies in room. Plenty of stores 5-8 minute drive away

“condo needs updated & cleaned”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2008

We stayed here a few days in October. We booked directly through the property and paid only $120 (plus $75 cleaning fee) for an oceanfront, one bedroom condo. Although the view was fantastic and the property itself is in good condition, the condo we were given in the A building was in need of a good, thorough cleaning. After looking around we noticed that the drapes, floors and windows were dirty. There was also candy wrappers, papers, tissues, spider webs and dirt behind and under the bed and the mattress needed to be replaced. It was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The towels in the bathroom were stained and the appliances in the kitchen were old and the refrigerator was rusted. We didn't use the pool but it did look clean. It would be nice if they added a hot tub since it was really too cold to swim in the pool when we visited.

The girls that worked in the office there were all extremely friendly and helpful. They even let me print my boarding passes for our flight home.

Amelia Island is very uncrowded and relaxing. The beach is beautiful and I loved downtown Fernandina. I would probably stay at this property again since it is reasonably priced and in a great location, but would want a condo that has been updated and thoroughly cleaned.

“Loved the Amelia Island Surf and Racquet Club”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2008

We stayed at the Amelia Island Surf and Racquet Club in late July. The hotel was great. Right on the beach and very nice. There were 12 of us from the family and we had a total of three rooms. Each room was decorated differently, but all done very nice. Our room was a two bedroom suite. The room had a full kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a balcony. We had an ocean front room while the others had ocean view. We were very happy with our room. It was very spacious and gave the kids plenty of room to play when in the room, which wasn't very often. The beach was great. Very clean and easy to access from the hotel. We even saw a giant sea turtle one evening up on the beach laying eggs. The kids thought that was awesome. Although the hotel is made up of three different buildings which all looked full, the beach was not very croweded at all. There were people on the beach, but not overwhelming. The pools were also very nice. I think the most amount of people we had in the pool at one time was 10. It was so nice. It was like having your own private pool. The pools weren't huge, but plenty big enough to enjoy. We also felt very safe at the hotel as you had to have a key to get thru the gate to gain access to the hotel itself. I think the only negative thing I could say about this place was that it didn't have a hot tub, and it was a little difficult to find upon arrival. Once we located it, it was not big deal.
The island itself is great also. Plenty to do. We visited a fort, played miniature golf, did some shopping and ate at some great restaurants. We also took one day and drove to St. Augustine which was only about a 1 hour 15 minute drive. We would definitely visit this beach again and would stay at the same place. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again.

“beautiful beach”

We visited Amelia island for the first time and spent a week at the Surf and Raquet. The beaches are beautiful, and we found the island to be wonderfully uncrowded compared to other east coast areas we have visited. This property is in a good location, has 2 nice pools, and is a reasonable price. We will definitely go back. We rented a 2 bedroom condo that was listed as oceanfront but was actually oceanview on the 6th floor building B. The view was good- looking past the next building. The unit we rented was OK and had all the things we needed to make our week comfortable. It was "well used" and tired looking - in need of some updating and repairs- slider to balcony was very hard to open, no screen, drapes that didn't open and close, dirty carpet, older bathrooms. Would go for building A or C next time.

“Loved Amelia Surf and Racquet Club”

We stayed there some during week of 4th July this year and it was wonderful and fireworks show was great. My children enjoyed the pool, ocean, and beach tremendously and we stayed in A120 which is a wonderful well decorated l bedroom with queen sleeper sofa condo on the 4th floor in A Building as there are 3 buildings and balcony view is terrific plus there is more privacy there it seemed. Having the washer/dryer available is a nice amenity too plus it has WIFI. The carriage ride downtown Centre Street is lots of fun and there are several good restaurants nearby with casual dining available. The landscaping at this condo complex is immaculate and the pools are well maintained.
