My second stay at Fairbanks House was even better than the first, and that was quite special. This time, I arrived just before the social hour, during which wine, hors d'oeuvres and the inn's special treat, Wine Slush, are served. A Slush is like a frozen sangria, but better, less sweet. The innkeepers are quite particular, and this is reflected in every piece of china, the exquisite appointments (even in the least expensive room) and particularly in the quality of food and wine that is served. Any guest "issues" are treated discreetly, including my need for gluten-free fare. A stay at Fairbanks House is a balm for the soul, and the innkeepers are incredibly knowledgeable about the community. They always know what is going on and have menus or event tips to share. Each of the two times I visited, I left hoping I could return soon.
