Recently my wife and I spent a weekend at this Omni resort. Ok first of all they have a deal on rooms in the off season so they state. We live in Florida and decided to check it out. The beach is not like the beach in the southern east coast of Florida, its grey with a lot of oyster shells and many other grey to black shells and very shallow. The Omni is a beautiful hotel which caters to mainly golfers, got nice courses and for those who are looking for golf its pretty nice. But and there always is a BUT. They have two places to eat in the hotel the menus are limited in selection. We went to the really upscale place on our last night. I ordered the Rib Eye bone in steak, I got about one third of the way into it and I ordered med rare and I ran into very Rare I would not and could not finish it. Now the hotel guy came over and ask me about my meal I showed it to him and the best he could do was offer to take it back and have it cooked more. What in a microwave, that is a sin in my book to do to a Rib eye. besides my wife was finished with her meal by the time he came over. It was too late to consider that. He should have written it off considering there was two thirds of the steak left.
Drinks are Very expensive, I drink single malt scotch OBAN if available, $ 17.00 a glass. Thats steep. Considering you get about 20 shots to a bottle and I can buy Oban at ABC for about $80.00 bucks, someone is making out on that bottle. They have shops very expensive over priced in our opinion, as were the meals and drinks. If you look at the room service menu you will notice that its actually cheaper to eat in your room with room service than it is to eat in the restruants in the place. Yea go figure that one out. The Rib Eye was $42.00 and they do not offer a baked potato nope no were we ate did we see one. Its Stone Ground Grits on or with everything. Now Im a Florida boy and I like my grits BUT not with a $42.00 steak. And beware, they add a 20% gratuity to everything even at the bar. That gets a bit steep. I think its over priced, and despite the great staff I mean great people We would never go back. The room we had was very nice and clean King bed balcony overlooking the ocean but the property is hugh, with condos on it besides the Hotel, and there is construction going on which makes getting around a bit of a chore. They do have shuttles that are quick and always available. There was one real down side, I wanted to go to the sports bar on property the Falcons nest, it was suppose to be open on Sat at 12:00 pm nope closed and no one inside even the staff did not understand that one. So buyer beware on this property and hotel go further south past Jacksonville beach and find yourself and Nice beach warmer water, cleaner sand and not as pricey. Good luck.
Room Tip: go for the King room with the ocean view

Thank you for your review of our resort. Our beaches are a tad different than the Florida east coast, however, no less beautiful, and perfect for shell enthusiasts. We are sorry to hear that your meal at our hotel restaurant - Ocean Grill - was less than satisfactory. I have forwarded your comments to our Director of F&B, as well as your concern over Falcon's Nest. And yes, we do our best to inform guests that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to all services. Overall we are very happy to hear you found our accommodations to be satisfactory. We hope you will consider visiting us again.
