I actually normally stay at either a Hilton or a Marriott, but due to the location near Naval Station Mayport and the beach I thought I would give Holiday Inn Express a shot. I am glad I did. The hotel is extremely clean, has free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, very comfy beds and pillows, a free breakfast, and the location couldn't be better. The free breakfast is good, nothing amazing, but good. There are flat screens in the bedrooms and more cable channels than any hotel I've been in. There's even a DVD player in the room that would be great if I was traveling with the family, on a rainy day I could pop in a kids movie. There are only two issues I have with this hotel. First, as others have stated, the rooms have thin walls! You can almost make out the conversations of the person in the room next to you. If you're on a different time schedule you'll surely be annoyed with your neighbor if you are trying to sleep when they are coming or going at the same time, or watching TV. The second issue, is the gym, or lack thereof. A couple treadmills and a bike and that's pretty much it. So if you're in to fitness you'll have to find other ways. There is always the pool though! The pool is actually pretty nice, is heated, and has a hot tub beside it as well. if it wasn't for those two issues the hotel would be close to perfect, especially for the price and location. It is only 15 minutes to Naval Station Mayport, and there are plenty of places to eat across the street, and the beach, with even more tourist attractions, is about a 10 minute walk. I will definitely be choosing this hotel next time I'm in Jacksonville or Jacksonville Beach.
