“Great Location, But The Fig's Hospitality/Kindness Tops all!”

My husband and I just got back from our memorial weekend trip to JAX beach FL, where we stayed at the Fig Tree Inn for 3 days. We're use to staying at B&B's, but this was the first one of its kind that we encountered where the owners didn't live on premises - which didn't bother us at all. Upon arrival Dawn greeted us and told us where to go, and what amenities we could take advantage of while there. For instance - the kitchen is open for all guests, something that we weren't use to at other B&B's. We had free Wifi, access to the fridge, and access to chairs, umbrellas and towels all free of charge. Having access to a kitchen was awesome because that meant we were free to make anything on the stove if we needed to morning, day or night. We also came back from the beach at lunch to use the kitchen and take a break from the sun. By the way, the Inn is also only 1 block away from the beach, which was a HUGE perk!

I think the best aspect of this B&B was the hospitality. Honestly, My husband and I felt like this was home, and the owners were like laid back parents. This being pretty important to us since we live so far away from our own families. Dawn and Kevin were warm and inviting, and every morning we carried on a conversation that lasted for at least an hour! You don't find this type of interaction and hospitality at a hotel!

We highly recommend The Fig, and we’ll be back in the future!

“Excellent B&B”

This was my first stay at a bed and breakfast and I plan on coming back! The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of tons of restaurants and bars. The beach is amazing and only two blocks away. We stayed in the Nautical room and were surprised at the size and level of comfort. Everything was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Dawn and Kevin treated us like family and cooked up an amazing breakfast. You will not regret staying here.

“Lovely Inn, super location”

My husband and I planned a surprise cruise to the Bahamas for our teenage daughters for Spring Break. We were to leave from Port Canaveral, Fl and we live in Tennessee. We knew we would need to find a place in which to spend the night and then travel to the ship the next day. Jacksonville looked like a good choice. We had also planned to return to Jacksonville after the cruise (it was a 4 day). My husband received info on the Fig Tree Inn through a business organization he works for. We had loved another bed and breakfast that we had stayed at the year before in SC so we gave it a look. The Inn itself was built in 1915 as a family beach house, but it has been renovated with modern conveniences such as central AC. It is located only a block and a half from the beach, a very easy walk. It looked quaint and charming so we decided to give it a try. Our first night we were given 2 rooms on the main floor, each had private bath and cable TV. The inn keepers operate a very laid back inn, and as they do not live on property, we were able to check ourselves in and make ourselves at home. Breakfast durring the week is self serve continental style and weekends are cooked to order with lots of wonderful offerings. Our first night was Friday, so the next morning we had a great breakfast before heading off to the crusie.
The location of the inn is wonderful and the rooms are all individually decorated with different themes. We were in the "grape room" and our daughters in the "nautical room". Both rooms were very comfortable.
On our return trip we were in the Coral Reef room and our kids in the Palm room. All were charming and comfortable. Many of the bathrooms have old clawfoot tubs which just added to the charm. Dawn and Keith, our inn keepers are very lovely people who made our stay very comfortable and fun. They have beach towels provided along with chairs and boogie boards and other beach toys for the kids. We had access to a washer and dryer which was a huge help after a Bahams cruise for 4 people!
Jacksonville Beach itself is a lovely beach community. It does not have a lot of hotels and t-shirt shops like you find in places like Myrtle Beach. It felt more like a community, mostly homes and condos, good shopping, but not a real "tourist trap" feeling. We ate dinner at a great local place called "Sliders" one night and the other at the always good "Mellow Mushroom".
We all look forward to returning again in the future and visiting our new friends at the Fig Tree Inn.

We really enjoyed our stay at this bed and breakfast. The management and staff were warm and caring. Booking through Resorts Plus International helped us save money on our stay. Not only did we get a great rate, but a clean, comfortable and accomodating room.

“The most caring management of a B&B in the area and highly recommended.”

It is not our norm to comment on visits to accomodation but in this instance feel that we owe it the owners of the Fig Tree to state our view in light of the adverse review recently made.

We have stayed and used the Fig Tree over the past ten years and can honestly say that the couple who own and operate the Inn, Dawn and Kevin, are two of the finest persons one could ever wish to meet. They care as much for their guests as they do for their own family. Nothing is ever too much trouble and every small detail is attended to.
Any request for a paricular food is provided. Internet is also available and as regular visitors from the UK this is invaluable.

The weekend breakfast is an absolute delight and always freshly cooked.
We wish them well and sincerley hope that our input will encourage more guests to stay as they will be made to feel, as we are, part of the family.

We have stayed in many B &B's and can honestly say the Fig Tree is up amongst the best.
