“Great Stay at Haley's Motel - Anna Maria Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Thanks so much for a great stay. The room was very clean and perfect for our weekend get-a-way from the city. Service was first class. Also, for those planning a stay the Haley's is located in between two of the Tram stops, with the closest a block north of the Motel on the west side of the road headed away from the pier. Room number 8 was a very nice room, a little small; but perfect none the less and we couldn't beat the price for a last minute booking towards the end of MLK weekend. Thanks for a great stay and we will definitely keep you in mind for our next stay.

“Perfect Getaway Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We rented the duplex house on the property for our son's wedding in October. The house was such a pleasure to stay in. It had two bedrooms, two small bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a dining area, a front porch and a grill in the back yard. Everything was very clean. The kitchen had everything that you needed to cook a meal.
There is a small swimming pool on the property. Beach chairs, beach umbrellas and beach towels were provided free of charge. There were also several bicycles available for use. The best part is the short walk to the beach.
The grounds are well maintained. The 50’s motel ambiance is very charming. It was truly a perfect stay!

“Clean and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

First, we must say that the service was excellent. The room was exceptionally clean! Debbie told us that she could turn the temperature up in the pool for us if we would like (we did). They told us that if there was anything we needed to just ask. The kitchenette was fully-stocked so we prepared breakfast every day. There was a coffee maker and all of the necessities to make coffee (a must!). We don't require daily housekeeping service, so that was actually a plus for us. The location is outstanding and after getting to know the island a little better, we preferred the quieter location of Haley's to the other, more busy areas to the south even though they were right on the water. The beach is a very short walk (or you can take one of the free bikes). The beach and the beach sand was awesome. You must walk on the beach sand barefoot to understand how incredible it feels. The gardens on the property are very tropical and well-kept. The little carts and beach towels are very helpful. The only real negative is the bathroom size as mentioned earlier. If you are extremely large, you may need to ask if there is a room with a larger bathroom. For the value, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Haley's to anyone.

Room Tip: Room #10 was nice and quiet on the end.

“Great Beach”

Maybe I didn't do enough research, but at $119 it was the cheapest on the island in Dec. We were artists in a local show (poor attendance), but I was willing to splurge a little. I was faked out since there was enough coffee for the first morning, and I thought (erroneously?) that it was from the motel and would be replaced. Since we were in the show all day we really didn't go shopping, but out to dinner, eating lunch at the show. We wanted the mini-fridge for milk for cereal and beer. The outlet that the coffee maker was plugged into did not work, so in the early morning (hubby still trying to sleep) I thought I was unplugging the microwave to plug in the coffee. We discovered upon returning that I unplugged the refrig. I attempted to get more coffee for the 2nd day, but didn't find anyone and didn't have time to search. We had an amusing time in the tiny bathroom...if you are tall or over size, you would really need to keep the door open to spit into the tiny basin. I am 5'4" and my knees reached under the sink while on the toilet (tmi?) and I could lay my head down on the sink to take a nap! Ha. The water was very hot & good pressure. One ice tray & no signs for ice machine, so we bought it everyday.
I was glad I had shampoo as none was supplied, nor tissues, etc. which I guess we have taken for granted! The room was never swept, nor bath cleaned, and with dirty shoes from the art show and sand from the beach, was disconcerting! There were 4 towels for the two of us, and I usually try to be environmental. Good hairdryer. I don't have problems going camping, but didn't realize the minimal offerings I was paying for...again, mayhaps my fault.
The location is good, and the short walk to one of the best beaches I have ever seen is a big plus! (We walked before and after the art show). The island is quite quaint and friendly. The owner of Haley's gave us a good orientation of restaurants, etc. Rod & Reel was great food for good prices: incredible full moon, good service; At the Sandbar you pay for the location on the beach. We were there 3 nights and got no discount like the other reviewer --could be different time of year. Cute decorations around motel; waterfalls, etc.

Room Tip: Maybe try to get one closer to the beach and away from traffic, but only a small island, so not much...

“it's the little things”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Stayed here for three nights in November in 9A. Roomed with my husband and sis-in-law. The space was tight (as advertised!), we joked that it was a good thing we liked each other. But for our needs it was perfect!

The kitchenette was well stocked, allowing us to make our breakfasts and pack lunches to save $$ for important stuff (like nightlife and shopping!) In addition to the expected appliances, our room had ice trays, coffee filters, salt/pepper shakers and a few sugar packets. We bought the rest of our food at the Publix on the island.

The added amenities really made this experience top notch. These guys thought of everything:

* Literally a 2 minute walk to a very private and quiet beach area!
* Pool was small but very cute. Quiet the weekend we were there, so we had it all to ourselves. Good lounge chairs.
* Complementary beach amenities were abundant: towels, assorted chairs, umbrellas, a rolling cart to trek it all there, a few random toys/pails, beach mats, and who knows what else was in that pile!
* Free bikes were THE BEST PART, but unfortunately only one was functional so we had to take turns. Allowed us to quickly move back and forth between spots on the island.
* Close proximity to local gems: Piers on the north east side were a scenic walk away, we spent a solid two hours watching fishermen, dolphins and birds; located on the free trolly line; Ginny's and Jane E's Bakery Cafe and Island Coastal Store just up the road, a real treat!
* Decore was really quaint, and rooms were very clean.

The staff was friendly and the price can't be beat! I would DEFINITELY stay here again.

Room Tip: Cottage unit 9 was at max capacity with three adults, in terms of comfortable "personal" s...
