The DeSoto is a home away from home. Steve is the most welcoming proprietor I have met, and he works very hard to make the inn a relaxing getaway.

The place was spotlessly clean and the garden was fabulous. Only steps away from the beach - what could be better? How about a delicious dinner on the night we arrived? Steve and guests were grilling and enjoying a pot luck style meal in the garden. Everyone was so friendly and relaxed.

Definitely will be back! What a gem.

My husband and I were looking for an unpretentious, quiet place for a week of R and R with our 10 year old son. We found it. The inn promised cleanliness and personal service and wow, did it deliver. Everything about the Desoto was lovely, from the charming and attentive innkeepers Steve and Josias, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make certain that our stay was perfect, to the bougainvillia lined garden. I could hardly believe Steve when he told me that he designed it -- three pagodas, sunny and shady spots to relax, and lush Florida plants. Each day we rolled out of bed, walked a ridiculously short distance to the beach -- at 10 am each morning we were the only ones there-- and lolled around. Our ten year old made pesto one night with the basil he picked in the garden and equipment from the well-stocked kitchen. I had cancelled a reservation at the Hollywood Marriott to stay here. All of us, including our ten year old, were glad I did -- it was well worth trading resort life, swimming pool, and crowds for the DeSoto's warmth, peace and beauty. I'll echo another reviewer who said so well: "A stay at this Inn is a dream." Cannot wait to return.

Our stay at the DeSoto was great, from initial contact through departure after our stay in November. Just a short walk from the ocean, lovely gardens and clean accommodations. Some problems with Wi-Fi which Steve has been working tirelessly to get resolved.

On my last day at the DeSoto, I seriously considered barricading myself into the room and refusing to leave. What's not to love? Cool terrazzo floors, fluffy towels and crisp linens; the soft susserance of surf and the cieling fan and the breeze in the bougainvilla; louvered windows shaded by palms; an exquisitely clean kitchen kitted out with all the necessities. Every room opens onto a deep covered walkway, with comfy chairs, a morning coffee bar serenaded by cockatiels, and a bookcase stacked with everything from Byzantium to Stephen King. The walkway wraps a dappled eden of flowers, herbs, palms, fig trees, butterflies and busy little lizards. Even a rainy day is magical there. Innkeepers Steve and Josias were magical, too. They've been hosts there for a long time, and it shows in their superb service, always immediately available when needed, never intrusive. Everything about the DeSoto is relaxed, un-precious, civilized, calm. It's on Hollywood's Broadwalk (the bike-and-pedestrian beach path) but is far enough away from the "main drag" to be serene. And it's all guilt-free: the DeSoto is green through and through. On second thought, please forget this review. I want to keep the DeSoto all for myself!
