I read several reviews about this hotel and was a little concerned about what I would find when I arrived there. But the hotel is right on the beach with some great views! Its amenities and furnishings are a little (OK, a lot) spartan but it is clean and the staff was very friendly. The location can't be beat and for the money, this was a great deal! True, it is under construction and expect a few hanging wires and unfinished areas, but for the location that was not a problem for me. Still no phones in the rooms but who does not have a cell phone these days? The free parking was a big benefit as well. My friends paid $20 a day to park at their hotel, which was not even on the water. I will stay here again.

The Hotel Sheldon is under renovation. Its location more than makes up for any slight inconveniences. The rooms are spare, but clean. The staff is very nice. Parking is free which is a real plus. The hotel fronts on the beach and broadwalk. There is an endless parade of walkers, joggers, bikers, trikers, and people watchers. We were there during a modeling/commercial shoot, which only added to the atmosphere.

There are plenty of restaurants. We particularly liked Giorgios, 2 blocks away on A1A for a very nice breakfast. They also serve lunch and dinner, and function as a wine bar.

The Sheldon names their rooms for film stars. It was a privilege to stay in the "Ronald Reagan", all politics aside. I would go back anytime.

Spent 5 days over the christmas holiday. The location is perfect!
The hotel is under construction and torn up in common areas but once in the room you dont even know it. The room was very clean. I will definitely stay there again just to see the progress.

Hotel Sheldon on Hollywood Beach, Fl has been under renovation for quite some time. Knowing that, we booked 2 days before our cruise as well as 2 days after the cruise. In terms of cleanliness, this hotel could do better with the common areas, but for the age of the Hotel, the rooms were just fine. Our first night was spent in an Ocean front room, a little small for us 4 girls, but it was comfortable. However, after checking at the Front desk to see if we could arrange a bigger room for our last 2 nights, we found that a partial ocean front room could be used for the 2nd of the 4 nights. We moved and it provided us with more room, but a renovated bathroom, which was just fine. It was clean and the staff was very accommodating. This grand old building will take a lot to make it modern. If you need to 'just stay' over and not worry about any amenities, you will do just fine. The crowning glory is the wonderful area of Hollywood Beach, where, within minutes or less, you have shopping, food, and just the plain beauty of the Atlantic Ocean to savor. I would not hesitate staying at The Hotel Sheldon again. This is an old fashioned approach to the modern day service of a hotel, but in and of itself, if you were content with doing things yourself, it is just fine. I suspect, though, that in the near future, when all things are completed, you will have a more friendly serviced Hotel to enjoy. For now, the price is fairly decent, linens extremely clean, and the atmosphere just fine.....Oh, just one minor complaint....the air conditioning system, although very good and cool, is quite noisy.....
