I stayed in this hotel for a 2 day business trip, and I was extremely disappointed by the level and quality of service for a four-star hotel.
Check-in – We arrived at the hotel around 9pm, and there was one woman working at the front desk. The entire check-in process took about 10-15 minutes, which seems excessive, especially after a long day of traveling. The staff did not do anything to expedite this process or move things along, and in fact, it took them a few moments to even acknowledge us when we first stepped up to the desk. This is unacceptable when trying to attract guests who want to be checked in and settled into their rooms quickly and efficiently.
Internet – The internet speed at this hotel seems as though it is stuck in the 1990’s. The “high-speed internet access” did not work, and when I called the front desk, they simply told me that no one else had reported a problem and offered to send up a maintenance tech. The wireless was painfully slow, and made it virtually impossible to get any work done.
Food – We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night there, and had a disappointing experience. The wine we received was old and flat, and when the bartender offered us new glasses from a new bottle, the glasses were stained with lipstick. For our dinner, we ordered the mahi, which was dry and overcooked, but the wait staff only said they would let the chef know instead of offering to take the meals off our bill. We ended up with a bill of over $100 for a meal that was less than satisfactory. The next day, we ordered breakfast from room service, and the eggs were runny and watery. The fruit plate, which was advertised as a mix of tropical and seasonal fruit with yogurt, was just a plate of pineapple and cantelope with a small cup of yogurt. Not impressive for a $14 meal.
Housekeeping – When I returned to my room mid-day, the door was left open by housekeeping. Fortunately, it did not appear that any of my stuff had been taken, but when I notified the front desk, they did not seem at all concerned with the situation. Since nothing had been taken, I didn’t expect any compensation, but I at least expected a somewhat sympathetic response to the situation.
Unfortunately, I will have to find another hotel in the Miami area next time I return, and I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone in the area for business.
