The wife and I stayed at the Sea Downs this past November and it is one of our most memorable vacations. If your into the big high rise hotel resorts this might not be your "cup o joe" but if you like a nice, clean, laid back setting with a nostalgic flavor then I can honestly recommend this place. Our 1 bedroom apartment on the second floor had a great view of the ocean from the picture window in the living room, the kitchen was well furnished with a full sized fridge, coffee maker, mic, stove/oven and utensils. Bedroom was large with a king sized bed that was very comfortable and a full sized bath with plenty of hot water. This very comfortable room was just steps away from the patio with tables and chairs right next to the boardwalk, perfect for people watching and just a few more steps to the beach. Located at the north end of the Hollywood Beach it is a more quiet area but within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. The only reason I'm not giving it an excellent rating is because of the pool. It is located behind the hotel(no biggie)and is pretty small but the deck around the pool is so tiny only about 3 people can stretch out. But with the patio and ocean right there it's not a huge deal. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We would not hesitate to stay there again, in fact I looking forward to the next time we can!

Sea Downs is right on the boardwalk. Most of the rooms have some ocean view. Only one has no ocean view. Most desirable rooms are those on the ends. Second floor beats first floor for view without compromising privacy. The atmosphere is more like that of a bed and breakfast or Inn. Management is on-site 24x7 which keeps away those who like to come on the weekends and use the patio/veranda but don't want to pay for the stay. Over all I would stay there again but would be pickier about the rooms I rent.

Last September I had a wonderful 11 nights stay at The Bougainvillea and from now on this is the #1 place for me to stay in the Ft. Lauderdale / Hollywood area. No doubt!

Why? Let me give you 5 reasons why I think this place is awesome:

#1. Excellent location, right on the beach. Located in a more quiet part of Hollywood Beach with all the excitement in I would say a 500 meters radius. Parking no problem!
#2. Spacious apartments that are well maintained and equipped with all the facilities you need like AC, Flatscreen TV, Superfast Wi-Fi, Full Bathroom, Small kitchen, Fridge with freezer, Safe etc.
#3. Unlimited and free use of brand-new gas BBQ’s in the garden, beach chairs, beach towels and bikes.
#4. Extremely professional and friendly staff that really cares about the guests.
#5. Fair price for the stay that I had.

Tip? The Bougainvillea does not serve breakfast, lunch or dinner, but within 100 meters you find a nice place called Ocean’s Eleven on the Beach.

If I were a smart man, I would say that this is the worst place I ever stayed and you need to stay far away from it, that way you would keep away and I would never have to worry about this wonderful gem on the beach being sold out. Unfortunately, after meeting the staff and owners, let me say that this is THE place to stay in the Fort Lauderdale-Miami area. Friendly folks and immaculate facilities. Reserve now with no worries. There are bars within walking distance as well as the Hollywood Beach Pavilion with free live music.
