Our stay was several years ago but after reading reviews of other hotels and seeing Scottish Inns relatively high rating because only one other person gave it a review, I felt I must write.

This is a hotel that should be knocked down! Because it was a football weekend at UF, there was a 2-night minimum and a fairly high room rate. Apparently the 2-night minimum only applied to people who were stupid enough to book ahead. Right before us was a young "lady" paying for a 2 hour stay with single dollar bills. That should have given us our first clue but we arrived very late, Gainesville was filled to capacity and we had no choice. We would have been better off choosing to stay in our car -- but not in that neighborhood! The rugs and bedding were filthy, dead bug bodies were stuck to the walls, and the only mirror in the bedroom was anchored at a strange angle facing the bed. Tried not to use the bathroom at all. We slept in our clothes on top of the bed and forfeited the 2nd nights stay. We received no satisfaction after sending letters to a corporate office since these are privately owned franchises and the owner of this one would not even reply. There are lots of places to stay in Gainesville or the surrounding areas. Any of them would be better than this one.
