“Missed the mark this time.”

We have stayed here before and for the price paid, found it to be above average but not this visit. We were visiting our student at UF while our other child was auditioning at the UF School of Music and we spent two nights here. Upon arrival our room was clean and adequate. That was Friday night. Saturday morning we left early and didn't return until after 8 pm. Our room had not been serviced. Wet towels from the morning shower still in the bathroom, beds unmade. That was not so horrible but when we called the front desk to report the situation, we were told by the desk clerk that he was the only one on duty and couldn't leave the desk. We decided we would just get some extra towels and my husband needed a couple of extra pillows for comfort for that night. I called the desk agent and asked if I could just get those at the front desk. He said I could come get some towels but that he didn't have any pillows and couldn't tell us where we could locate some. He said he might be able to find some pillows for us at 11 pm when the security guard came on duty. We declined on that one because our plans were to be asleep by then as we had to get an early start in the morning. Anyway, I guess on this trip we got what we paid for. Too bad. I used to really like the place.

“Okay stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Not a bad place although the hallways and elevator were definitely aged, and could be updated. The ambiance was that of a ski lodge, so the hotel is appropriately named. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The price was right, and breakfast was good.

“STAY HERE, IF YOU NEED TO STAY IN GAINESVILLE!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I recently stayed at the Cabot Lodge while attending a graduation. Remember that this is not a "destination", people who visit are usually looking to stay near UF campus. Yet is more than adequate, clean, easily accessible and offers welcome amenities; such as free happy hour in a pretty spacious lounge, where you can hang out at your leisure. In the morning there is complimentary breakfast, which I wouldn't call great, but certainly plentiful and gets your day going. There are plenty of dining options nearby too.The hotel was jammed packed and staff still managed to run it smoothly. I would stay here again and recommend it, if you are looking for a place to stay in this neighborhood.

“Great service in Gainesville.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Checked out the mixed reviews for the Cabot Lodge and decided to decide for myself. The service is excellent and the staff even asked which room would be your preference. I selected a first floor room in the book of the hotel and it was just fine. Easy access to our car for an early morning departure. The room structures (doors, closets) themselves are a little dated, but the decor has been updated and is very nice. And most important it's a very clean hotel. I would stay there again happily.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms are very convenient to the many exit doors to parking lot.

“Still an option”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Having stayed at the Cabot several times over the last decade, my most recent stay in October, 2011 offered few surprises. The property has aged, and it is in need of remodeling, but it is maintained nicely and for the rate is still a decent option for an overnight or long weekend in Gainesville. There is road construction going on currently so access to the hotel is a bit annoying. The issues with the lifts in the hotel are not new...they are slow and seem ready to break down at any moment. Thankfully they did not during my stay. The plumbing is old, and I had an issue with the toilet not flushing properly in my room. Staff attempted to fix the issue, but were unable to. I was offered a $20.00 discount (2 day stay) as compensation. Thought they could do better than that, but at least they offered something.

Staff is friendly and attentive, and the breakfast/happy hour remains a nice feature offered to guests.

Room Tip: Try for room on back side of hotel...lift on that side is better.
