In August 2011 I reviewed the Hilton for the wonderful care they provided while my husband was a patient at Shands Hospital.

This stay was totally unexpected, my husband was taken as emergeny in the middle of the night to Shands from Ocala.

At 8 am the following morning after my husband was admitted I called Hilton and asked for a room for an unknown length of time. They could not have been more accomodating.

My stay lasted 16 days. every morning when leaving the hotel I was asked what they could do to make my stay easier during this very difficult time. The same in the evening. I began to know not only the front desk staff, the bartender in 2 Bits, and room service personal. Everyone made me feel like I was their most important customer.

I just can not compliment this hotel and their staff enough. While reviewing the other reviews, I see they feel the same as I did.

We stayed for the Thanksgiving weekend of 2011 and we were delighted with everything about this hotel. Great people, very nice rooms and the breakfast was wonderful! It was a joy to come back to the Hilton every night to relax after the stressful days that we had while in Gainesville caring for our dad.

Good things: Close to campus, Nice landscaping, Lobby, Friendly staff, Great Shower, restaurant

Not so good things: Elevator was too scary to use - lights falling down made it feel creepy,
Fitted sheets don't fit, Rooms and hallways in the 1000 building need to be updated
amateur interior design,could be cleaner

Room was perfect for business travel. Easy access to the University, Downtown and the Interstate. Two desks in the room and ample space for work, plus a very pleasant atmosphere in the lobby.

For those staying longer, the room is equipped with a large walk in closet, as well as a microwave and refrigerator.
