We stayed at this hotel during our trip to Ft Walton Beach bowling tournment. Half of our rooms (8 in the group) did not receive service. There was no refrigerator, microwave, iron, ironing board or coffee pot. The deluxe continential breakfast they advertise consisted of: corn flakes, raisin bran and 2 choices of little debbie snack cakes. No ice machine. People where using there hands to scoop out ice from a refrigerator in the breakfast area. I sat at the pool on check out day and watched the housekeeper clean a room. I watched her from the time she pulled her cart up and opened the door until she shut the door and pushed her cart away. She never took a pair of sheets off the cart, therefore the beds never got changed. I wouldn't spend my money at this hotel again. We paid $94.00 a night. The price you pay versus the services you receive in return are pitiful. The hotel staff were immediately on the defensive when you complained. Also several people paying cash were told different deposit prices. Some were quoted a $40.00, others were quoted $50.00 and one of my members was told they didn't take cash. They were charged deposits because they were paying cash. Cash customers could not pay for their two night stay all at once but had to come back daily to pay for their room--what a headache and pain. SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS ELSEWHERE.

We stayed in the America's Best Inn at Ft Walton Beach for a few days last week (before we were evacuated due to Hurricane Dennis). The rooms were dismal at best and not cleaned very well. The breakfast they offered consisted of Little Debbie pastries that were bought at the day-old store. Lousy hotel. Paid $85.50 for a dumpy room but did manage to get a discount due to having to leave early. Would definitely NOT recommend this hotel. Pay the extra dough and stay at a nicer place because this place ain't nice at all.

While I understand that everyone has a different tolerance level for what is acceptable in a hotel stay, I believe that the pervious review might have been written by someone working for the hotel (note all the details in the review). Here are some take-aways from my recent stay here:

PROS:
Location: It is not a stroll to the beach, but it is a quick drive to the beach, shops, and restaurants.
Price: We paid $105/night, on a holiday weekend when no discounts were offered.

CONS:
Filthy Bedroom: Mold was visibly growing on every wall.
Filthy Bathroom: Mold was growing on walls, and all over ceiling. Toilets had dirt and hair on it. Obviously not cleaned recently.
Dark & Damp & Strong Mildew Smell
Hot: The air conditioner did not work properly.

The pool was certainly not a draw, in fact I barely even noticed it was there. And be warned that housekeeping will knock on your door at 9:30AM and tell you that if you aren't ready for the room to be cleaned now, it won't be cleaned at all....no wonder the rooms are in the condition they are.

I would never stay here again, but if you are looking for an inexpensive room, that you don't plan on spending much time in this might suffice.
Do not stay here if you are looking for clean / comfortable accomodation during your holiday.

PS- we slept in our sleeping bags on top of the bed.

Our stay at this hotel was quite enjoyable. The hotel looks pretty basic from the outside, but the room was clean. The hotel sits on a picturesque harbor and there are plenty of boats, ducks, and seagulls that are visible from the property. The front desk staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. Requests for extra pillows and towels were filled promptly. The hotel has a pool area and a hot tub. The rooms were comfortable. Our room had two queen size beds (with very comfortable mattresses), and a jacuzzi bathtub. The bathrooms are small, which I think was my only complaint about the room. The rooms include a nice big color TV with HBO and full-cable. The housekeepers did a very good and thorough job cleaning our room each day. There is a breakfast area that has places to sit, a TV, and the breakfast included with the room featured bagels, waffles, fruits, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. and was far more than the "coffee and muffins" that some hotels call a "continental breakfast." There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The hotel is convenient to Destin and an easy drive to either Pensacola or Panama City. Overall, the Best Inn provided a clean, comfortable place to stay at very affordable prices. Definitely ask the front desk about any "special rates" that may be in effect. We will gladly return to this hotel again.
