We stayed at the Howard Johnson in Ft. Myers Beach during April of this year while attending a wedding. We reserved two rooms through a timeshare program, and was listed as a high quality resort by the timeshare company. Needless to say, we were a bit taken aback by the quality of our rooms. We had two rooms that were originally a basement level apartment and were converted in motel rooms at some point. Our windows were tiny and gave us the view of the back of a building directly next to us. The rooms were pretty dank and musty. Surprisingly, on its billboard, the motel advertised that it was a "diamond" resort, whatever that means. It surely isn't a diamond in the rough. Its just rough. The location of the motel was great for shopping and eating, so really that was its only redeeming factor. We certainly didn't do much in the rooms other than sleep and bathe. Hopefully the management will try to live up to the "Quality Excellence Award" that was somehow bestowed upon them (according to their website) by the parent corporation because they certainly aren't doing it right now.
