“perfect location”

although many may not like this motel because it is not very fancy, we decided to try this place because of its location. we have stayed at many places on fort myers beach...from expensive to cheap. shipwreck is in the lower price category. however, we were hardly in our room other than to sleep and eat breakfast and lunch, so who really needs fancy? beds were comfortable and the room was clean and cleaned daily and bug free. this place is a few steps to shopping, eats, beach and times square. shipwreck has 2 pools that are heated (not warm enough for us) and outside sitting areas. the rear of the property is on a canal for boaters (we are not) and found it relaxing to sit back there as well. we had a room with a kitchenette and ate breakfast and lunch in the room. they have gas grills for cooking out if you want. there has been some construction recently so their website needs to be updated but the inside room pictures are accurate. all in all, this place met our expectations, however, we had seen the place before so we knew what we were going into. btw...DO NOT USE PARROTT TAXI SERVICE. THEY STIFFED US AT THE AIRPORT.

BEWARE OF THE HOTEL GIFT SHOP!!!

I bought a pirate bank in their gift shop. Nine days after I got home I picked up the bank and my finger went through the head of the bank . The sale slip says NO REUNDS Exchanges Only!! I called the hotel and talked to 2 managers about returning the bank & getting another one. I live in PA. and was willing to pay for the return shipping. They said a flat out no!

“Our Group of Adults Stayed Here & Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

This nice motel is not for those who wish to be in a luxury resort setting or in a typical chain type motel.
As a local of over 37 years, I can say this is NOTHING like a "Spring Break" motel. Our group consisted of various ages of guests in their 30's all the way into their 70's and our group is already thinking about next Summer and how many rooms we will need at The Shipwreck

The Shipwreck has two decent size, fresh water pools, Tiki Huts, clean, colorful & cozy rooms, laundry facilities, free parking, friendly & courteous staff in a cozy setting. Our group of friends enjoys a "Beach Weekend" every August and this year we decided to try Shipwreck instead of our usual who has no pool and had refused to give us a larger discount considering the size of our group this year. We took up at least 11 or 12 of the 33 rooms, priced between $79 to $99 per night

While the Shipwreck may not be located right on the beach, it is on the quiet bay side overlooking a beautiful view of the sunsets and lagoon. Our rooms were very clean and each had at least a small kitchenette. You also are welcomed to enjoy the shade of Tiki huts around the pools and if you prefer to cook out, free use of gas BBQ grills are located right by the Tiki Huts surrounding the pool.

The Shipwreck is located within two short blocks of the beach and the popular "Times Square" & The Big M Casino Boat. The motel is surrounded by quite a selection of non-chain restaurants to choose from. (Seafood, Burgers, Steak House, Gourmet just to mention a few) Weekends usually offer several events to attend. The Motel Store is large and contains quite a large selection of souvenirs.

My only complaints would be that while we knew the rooms are non-smoking rooms, I expected to find ash tray canisters outside the rooms (I asked when I made our reservations). Instead the smokers had to use their empty soda cans otherwise they would have had to huddle by the ice machin where a small ashtray is attached to a wall. Also I think the Motel may have started a remodel after their site pictures were taken. I saw nothing that really matched those pictures but it was still clean and comfy. Overall, We Loved It !!!!

PS: I know I am praising quite a bit so I would like to state for the record that: No, I never worked there and I don't know anyone there.

“Unique place to stay...”

We found this motel on line and booked 1 night. The rates are reasonable and the motel is right in Fort Myers beach where all the shopping and restaurants are. It is deceiving as the motel is also connected to a large store which is actually pretty nice itself. The motel room was very clean and re-done in tropical colors, newer tile and a nice walk in shower. The room is very small so it is highly recommended to spend the few extra dollars to get an efficency unit if staying more then 1 night. There are 2 pools and a long deck on the canal behind the motel. For being close to a restaurant and the main "strip", it was very quiet. Before leaving the manager did show us an eff. unit, which is very large and all are nicely re-done. The next time we go to Ft. Myers we will def. stay here.
