“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Stayed at the Flamingo Inn for a two day business trip. George was very friendly and helpful on the phone, making sure I had a room near the office for the Wi-FI connection. My room was compact but very nicely done and clean, with enough space for one person. All the associates at the Inn were friendly and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay.
I would return to this location for another visit.

“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2010

Having no reservations, we were so lucky to find this reasonably priced, family run motel close to the beach. We had a large room with a dining area and full stove/oven, small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster. Dishes, silverware, utensils, and pots and pans were all provided. There were even different wine glasses for reds, whites, and champagne! The bathroom w/shower was certainly adequate, and everything was very, very clean. The owners were helpful and friendly. We were in the unit facing the main drag, so road noise could be a problem in the morning for late sleepers. We didn't have a problem with this, however, as we were up and about early to enjoy the day.

We're looking forward to staying here again.

“Standard Rooms Small for Space Conscious, but by the Beach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2008

We stayed for 4 nights and were pleased with the hospitality and cleanliness of the room. That said, our queen standard room felt more like a dorm room or hostel than a hotel room, and as indicated in another review, the mattress wasn't that good either. Another problem is that there is periodically NO WATER, so no shower is guaranteed. --But for a budget location by the beach (and the quiet side of Fort Myers Beach at that), it was fine for us. I don't think we could have found any place as inexpensive as that for the time period we were there.

  • Liked — cleanliness, helpful staff, location
  • Disliked — size of room, bed comfort, lack of water

“Budget place 100 yards from the beach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2008

Flamingo Inn is located on the Southern end of the island, about 3 miles away from the hustle and bustle of a pier and shopping district. There is a grocery store (Publix) about 1 mile away. The Inn sits on a corner of the only highway on the island (Estero Blvd.) and a side street (Flamingo St.), about 100 yards from the beach, that happens to be widest there. A noise from the highway was a problem at night (apparently there is a lot of Harleys on the island). The Inn is surrounded by a sort of concrete pad on 3 sides, with a small garden on the back side. There’s no common area (lobby) for Inn guests.

The room was small with a two-element electric stove/sink combo, a small refrigerator, a microwave on top of it, and a coffeemaker and a toaster on top of the microwave, so all that looked quite rickety, with a spaghetti of electrical cords hanging freely. The bathroom was very tiny and cramped, and the shower cabin was about 2 ft by 2 ft, so taking shower posed a challenge.

On the other hand the bathroom and the room were spotlessly clean, and the owners (Joerg and Alexandra Eiffel) were very personable and friendly. They are also continuously upgrading all the rooms, with Joerg doing most of the labor himself, so perhaps he will soon replace stained carpets in hallways etc.

So if you are young, thin and lean, unspoiled, or a tourist on a budget, and just need a place to spend a night and hit the beach in the morning. that's the place for you. But if you crave space, comforts, lush tropical gardens, private beach etc., then you need to find another place (and pay considerably more, of course).

“Is there another Flamingo that rnamore stayed in ???”

This was one of the cleanest rooms I have EVER stayed in.The rooms ARE on the small side, yes, but they are extremely clean, bathroom spotless, fresh paint,no pealing, quiet a/c.The owners are European so the furnishings are immaculate, for being such a small place it was indeed a pleasure to have stayed there. If you have a large family, this may not be the place for you, but, for singles and couples, its perfect.I like a dummy forgot my wallet in the room fullof cash,my cell phone, and gloves, and when I went back,it was all waiting for me at the
office.I am making plans to go back and stay for longer this time,it is only about 100 yards from the beach. It is a shame I did not take pics of the rooms,(we rented two),but next time I will and I will post them.
