“Worst Place Ever”

My wife and I went to the Sun Tan Village on Dec 27th of 2009. Wow was we shocked. This was the dirtiest place ever to stay in. My wife and I stayed there in 2005. This place has done a complete 180. I am pretty sure that there is new owners there also. My wife and I stayed in the room for a total of 15 minutes before I went up there and requested my money back for the room. We were staying a week also. I had to argue with them about my room because the manager had to have her daughter speak for her because she did not speak very good English. FIrst sign. When we stayed there we had some elderly women who were very helpfull and nice in 2005. Then once they decided to give me my money back they said they were going to charge me 50 dollars. I argued and got that down to 25. I really dont think they wanted to charge me 50 dollars.

This place is on the 5000 block of Estero Beach. I went to down to the Gulf Motel and paid the same price and it was only a 10-11 minute walk to were all the good stuff happens. While this place was about a 7 to 10 minute car ride from our new hotel in the wrond direction. It would take us about 45 minutes from this place to get to the strip.

My suggestion is to never stay at the Sun Tan Village!!!!!!

“Totally gross! Rotten BANANAS!!”

My boyfriend and I went arrived at suntan village and right when we walked in the room we knew we paid too much for this. The bed was right in front of the door. The blinds were almost about to fall off. Then we looked in the cabinets and there was open cereal box, popcorn, and ROTTEN BANANAS! I can't even say how old these bananas were they were black and decaying. When we showed the manager he didn't even recognize what they were. There was also tiny bugs all around the tv. The closet door wouldn't open. The bathroom was so small there was no way that 2 people could even walk through it together. There were pieces of paper taped on the ceiling, which we thought were holes in the ceiling but they said it wasn't. This place was all around gross. We felt gross just being in the room and didn't want to take our shoes off. Do not go here it is sooo not worth the money!

“Don't stay here, huge waste of money”

This is by far the worst motel I have ever stayed in. The price was ridiculous, for such a filthy room. The carpets were all sticky, you definitely couldn't walk without shoes on. It wasn't fit for my dog to sleep on the floor. Don't stay here. There are cheaper and much nicer places to stay.

“Our Refuge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2007

My husband & I have stayed at Sun Tan Village 2 times and always extended our stay there. Love the location it is in between busy areas so it is more peaceful. Pearl was great too! We are probably taking our Grandchildren & kids there in a few months. I found the service was great & the price was in our range! We recommend Sun Tan Village to everyone! You are treated more like family there because it isn't Corporate America.

“has potential”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2007

While the Sun Tan Village Motel could be a quaint affordable motel we found many factors distressful. Perhaps most alarming is the fact that the manager will walk into your unit without knocking-this happened twice. Management is stingy with toilet tissue and bath towels. Our party of 14 reserved three large units months ahead of time, they felt the need to make us aware we were too many to supply with towels, toilet paper, etc. Management seemed to forget we paid over $3,800.00 for six nights. The units on the first floor have been remodeled and are much more comfortable than the dark dreary units on the second floor. We didn't need plush and elegant. The rooms were clean. However, we had to wash every dish, pan and silverware before using them. There is $150.00 charge for dirty dishes left in the sink, previous tenants put poorly washed dishes in the cupboard. The gas grills are filthy, utensils dirty. The pool is nice but the cushions on the pool chairs are thread bare and torn. What could make up for mediocre accommodations is management with cheerful hospitality skills, offering ideas of where to eat and activities on the island-this doesn't happen at the Sun Tan Village. The pool deck had not been hosed down the entire week. Crushed crackers on the ground and sticky tables remained unless customers cleaned them. We visited with many return customers around the pool. Everyone was disappointed with the new management/owners and found the price had increased significantly without offering any improvements to the facility. All were searching the island for a different hotel/motel next year.
Errol's Taxi service was a valuable asset to our vacation. They provide excellent service. The drivers were prompt courteous, the fees are affordable. They offered ideas and interesting facts about the island -- Five stars for Errol's Taxi service!
