Beautiful grounds, helpful front desk, good restaurant on-site. Rooms clean and well-appointed, but daily maid service leaves something to be desired. Tissue box not replaced, coffee maker not cleaned. Breakfast was minimal. Well, that's being kind. But overall, nice enough for a three- or four-day stay. After all, how much time do you actually spend in the room?

This hotel is not bad ... but it's not great, either.

The Clarion appears to be a converted 1960's Days Inn-style hotel that has, in some ways, been updated and upgraded but which still shows signs of its 1960's roots. My room was clean and, in general, in good repair, but the door showed signs of age, and someone had stuffed a tissue in the door's peephole, presumably to keep people from looking into the room. Some of the areas around the window frames showed signs of their age, and the curtains seemed a bit old, not quite clean, and a bit musty. But the room itself was clean and reasonably comfortably furnished.

Climate control is achieved by a newer, stand-alone room air conditioner that worked well but was very noisy. The noise does not seem to be due to any kind of malfunction; rather, it seems that this level of noise is just normal for this type of unit.

Wi-fi is free and responsive. Parking is ample.

I knocked my rating of this hotel down a notch because, at check-in, I was asked for my ID so that the clerk could make a photocopy of it. I always refuse such requests, as it can easily open the door to identity theft if such copies were ever to fall into the wrong hands. This time, when I refused, the clerk did not force the issue - but the fact that would ask such a thing at a hotel of this supposed stature (Clarion) is something that I find inappropriate and, in some ways, offensive, particularly as a top-tier (Diamond) level member of their frequent guest program. I do not have a problem with allowing the clerk to examine the license and to use it to confirm my identity, but there is no excuse for them to want to make and retain a copy of this very personal document. The clerk did ask if he could make a copy of my credit card in lieu of my license, and I reluctantly agreed to that.

Bottom line - there is nothing spectacular about this hotel. It's OK. Just OK.

Stayed here last year. And wanted/hoped our stay this year would be better. It was not.
Beds+Bathroom were OK. But rooms were 'smelly' and aircos 'noisy'.
Breakfast is ... uhmm ... how shall I call it ... poor.
So is the very thin 'silver ware'. [ It bent when you tried to use it :-D ]
Have Never/Ever had a knife you couldn't even cut a waffle with!
