I am not all that picky about hotels, and have traveled and camped a lot, but this was unacceptable. I know the adage, "You get what you pay for," but at $50 a night, the owners of this hotel should be ashamed. We booked here because Days Inn was a known chain, and we expected basic clean lodging for the price.
The "no smoking" room we were assigned reeked of stale smoke and also was musty and damp. The sink had hair in it. The toilet bowl was yellowed and rusty. The cable wire looked like a fire waiting to happen. There were no lights in one of the stairwells. A sign in the lobby said free local paper, when we asked, the clerk looked shocked that we would expect it.
The mattresses were uncomfortable, the sheets very old. I will now be wary of booking in a Days Inn, I am not sure why the chain doesn't have standards for hotels under its name.
The deluxe breakfast included white bread and a toaster, plus dry cereal, instant oatmeal and those hotel waffle makers.
There was a lot of confusion at check-in and several people were coming in saying their keys didn't work.
I guess I really believe if people buy a hotel they should at least make a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
