I wish I could tell you about the actual rooms but unfortunately I never saw one. I arrived at this hotel at about 11:30p.m. after just landing in Fort Myers. I had made a reservation about two weeks in advance for 2 rooms both non-smoking both with 2 beds. Upon arrival, I was informed that there were only 2 rooms left and they were both 1 bed each and smoking rooms.
When I told the manager (at least I think it was the manager who checked me in) that that wasn't what I booked he said "Well, thats how it came in from Choice Hotels so thats what I reserved for you." When I explained to him that there was no way I would have reserved the rooms like that he essentially told me "too bad, those are the only rooms we have."
I then told him that I would cancel the reservation and find another hotel and was told that if the rooms went unsold I would be charged anyway as it was past the cancellation deadline. When I explained that I would simply dispute the charge I was told "go ahead, I know what you're going to do, we'll fight about it through the credit card company."
I do a fair amount of traveling and have stayed at countless hotels including many Choice Hotels and have never been spoken to or received the type of attitude I got from the front desk staff of this hotel. To me, that is a very bad sign ever if you are lucky enough to get the room you wanted. In short, STAY AWAY!!!
We ended up finding 2 rooms at the Travelodge at 4760 S. Cleveland Avenue (about a mile up the road) which was clean and comfortable, seemed to be on par with the Comfort Inn and was about the same price.

• Management was approached about a system being set up which would definitely show reservations made through Choice Hotels. Possibly some sort of receipt being sent to the future guest so that it could be checked to make sure all agreed.
• Management received additional training in the courteous manner in which our valued guests are to be treated.
I hope that the next time you visit our area, you will once again attempt to stay at Americas Best Value Inn. We take our reviews very seriously, and I think you will be greatly pleased.
