My wife and I stayed here for three nights in March 2011. We have stayed here in the past, and have enjoyed our visits. About a year and a half ago, we started noticing a few little irritations. We are a couple, and choose a motel of this type so that we can have breakfast in our room, and maybe another meal or two. So we need to have the full complement of dinnerware for two, and the requisite cookware. In this last visit, upon check-in, we did not have dinner knives, cereal/salad bowls, tablespoons, dish rag, dish cloth, or a coffee carafe, and we were missing one face towel from the full complement of towels. They used to furnish small bottles of dishwashing liquid but no longer do so. I went to the desk and asked for, and received, the knives, bowls, dish rag, and dish cloth. The front desk attendant had to pirate a coffee carafe from another room as there were no spares. (I didn't ask for the spoons and the other towel.)

The room is quite clean, the bed is comfortable, the wi-fi worked well, the shower was hot (except for the last night and morning when we had no hot water at all due to a faulty motherboard in the water heating system), the TV was good, and the refrigerator/ice maker worked as it should.

One little niggle -- the bed is up against a side wall, so that one person will have to crawl over the other one to use the bathroom during the night. However, the problem can be solved by just moving the bed frame away from the wall as the frame is not attached to the wall in any way.

The location is not near any restaurants, but it *is* convenient to I-75.

We travelled to the Fort Myers area for a short trip and stayed at the Candlwood for two nights. I am a frequent traveler to the Fort Myers area, so I know a bit about the hotels in the area. We stayed in a suite (which inclues a mini stove, microwave, fridge and utensils) with a queen size bed. Cable TV was standard (included Showtime), bathroom was large with an adequate, smallish tub. The bed was not the most comfortable, but I honestly don't think most hotels have comforable beds. Also, there is a gym in the hotel. I didn't get to use it, but saw people there working out. In addition, the hotel offers WI-FI was as well.
The location of the Candlewood was convenient for us since we travelled to different areas around Ft. Myers. The Candlewood was easy to find especially coming off I-75..there are huge signs pointing to the Candlewood, so you can't miss it. Overall, if I was in the area again and needed to stay here I would. We got in about 3am, and the receptionist was kind and informative. I would recommend.

Good location, close to Sanibel without the paying the high price to stay on the Island. Lots of restaurants within a short drive. Hotel and staff were very nice. The only downfall was the pool had no sun on it but the water was warm. Will stay again :))

Pro - Very Reasonably Priced (i oersnal booked my room for $64+taxes online)
Con - A Bit Off The Beaten Path They are down a 3/4 mile driveway, when approaching the main road you have to wait at a red light forever and then go about another 1 1/2 to get to a decent decent restaurant, etc)
Pro - 36" flat screen t.v.
Con - (in my room anyway) there was no t.v. in the bedroom.
Pro - One of few hotels that still have smoking rooms
Con - My smoking room didn't have an ashtray

Overall... a clean, safe, secure well run property.
Another reviewer had mentioned that she was upset that she had to go to the front desk to swap out towels and linens... that is the standard for a hotel like this - it is considered an extended stay hotel and only have full maid service once a week or between check out/check ins.
