I wanted to get away from the craziness of high season in my city so picked Ft. Myers to escape to-and I'm glad I did! From Rock Lake Resort, where I stayed, to the walking tour and historical museum, the Edison & Ford Estates, the blues at the Cultural Center, the matinee at Florida Rep Theater, Ft. Meyers Beach & the greatl low-keyed St. Pat's Celebration with the many different bands playing in the charming downtown area-it was all wonderful. I didn't want to be on congested roads, so took Greyhound and was amazed to find the terminal shared by Lee-Trans, the public bus station. (about a 10 minute walk from the heart of downtown). I got a week bus pass for $12.50 and went everywhere. The Rock Lake Resort bus is 100E from the station, 100W back to the bus station which, by the way, is across from the historical museum & the library. The bus ride's 10 minutes, if evern that to the resort-but helps you save your enery for all the sightseeing. My room had a fridge & coffee maker, all I needed with all the good, reasonable restaurants nearby. I was the only one in the pool whenever I went swimming and loved it! This was my first visit to Fort Myers and the Rock Lake Resort, but it won't be my last!
