We found Shell Point on the internet through Trip Advisor and we loved it!
We booked a room through their toll free number in a matter of minutes for just $56 total for one night. When we arrived the check in was short ,sweet and the lady at the desk was very helpful.
The room was a nice basic room with 2 queen beds, table, chairs, TV and bathroom. the room was very clean the furnishings in great shape. there was a coffee maker with everything to brew several pots of coffee as well as toiletries in the bath.
there are coin operated laundry facilities, vending machines, and free ice. they have a heated pool, a work out center, bike trails and walking trails. they have several onsite restaurants within walking distance but we did not eat there because they do not allow shorts for dinner and we did not come prepared but everyone raves about the food
the guest house is located at Shell Point Retiremnt Community which is a beautiful full service gated retirement community located on the river just before you head over the bridge to Sanibel.
Its one of the nicest pleaces I have stayed in the area and its very, clean, safe and very attractive. the grounds are beautifully landscaped, clean and scenic
At $56 per day its a bargain compared to Sanibel and Captiva where $125/day is a rare bargain. You can go to the Islands pay the $6 bridge toll, spend the day at the beach and come back to shellpoint for the evening.
It's great bargain and a wonderful place to relax and unwind. We highly recommend Shell Point Guest House.
my only suggestions would be a minifridge for snacks and they should put more info about their restaurants in the rooms so people will be encouraged to use them.
