“Extremely dissappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2011

My husband and I made a spontaneous decision to drive down to Ft. Myers for the weekend. We arrived at the hotel without a reservation. We knew we were taking a risk that there would be a room available and the rate would be high. It was almost 9pm when we arrived at the Holiday Inn. We chose this hotel because we figured it would be clean and we could get a restful night sleep. That is all we expected. The front desk receptionist advised that room rates were normally $175, but would give us a walk-in rate of $155. It was a little steep for just a one night stay, but we just wanted to get something to eat and get to bed. We agreed to the rate and asked to be put in a room that was quiet. That was our only request. We received a room on the first floor...room123.

Apparently, the hotel was hosting an event in their bar that evening. Before going to the room, my husband and I chose to order a burger in the bar before they stopped serving food. Service was extremely slow. Once we received our food, it was lukewarm and we were not given condiments or silverware to eat with. Food was so-so. We had the food bill charged to our room.

When we got to our room, only 1 of the room keys worked. We slowly started to wonder if this night was going to be a disaster. When entering the room, everything seems very clean and tidy. No real complaints other than the floors were a little sticky. There was also some mildew in the shower. Ok, it's Florida...I can understand that, but I'm still thinking about the rate per night and that I'm paying to shower with mold.

We head to bed....beds and pillows are very hard and uncomfortable for my taste. However, we were able to fall asleep by 11:00pm. At approximately 2:00am, guests from the event that was being held in the bar were in the hallway yelling and screaming. This went on for several minutes. From that point forward, you could hear doors slamming every half hour. Needless to say, my husband and I did not get any sleep after 2am.

Referring back to my original request, we only asked for a clean, quiet room. At 5am, I couldn't take the noise any longer. I spoke to Debbie at the front desk who was kind enough to listen to my complaints. She explained that the hotel holds an event every first friday of the month and it gets a little rowdy. She adjusted our room rate and comp'd our food bill. We left the hotel by 6:30am. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this hotel.

“Shake Rattle and Roll”

If you don't mind an old-fashioned noisy air conditioner disturbing your sleep, then this could be the place for you. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated. Check-in was odd because there was a young gentleman sitting on top of the check-in counter during the check-in process. He was dressed in hip-hop, ghetto style clothes and his presence approximately 20" away was unnerving. Check-out was unsatisfactory because the attendant was preoccupied with paperwork and did not look up from it for 5 minutes as we waited to turn in our key.

“Nice quiet night's stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

Just a stop on the way to Sanibel. We wanted to see a couple of things here before heading over the next morning and got a great night's sleep and had great service. It also has a CVS next door and is close to the Red Sox traing and the Edison Museum and homes. This worked great for us.. The only bad thing was we went to eat breakfast and after waiting 6 minutes without ever seeing a waitress we left. There was a dunkin donuts next door. Our vacations are so packed that we can't waste an hour and half eating breakfast.

“better than average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

Fresh, clean, friendly staff, warm pool, better restaurant& bar attached. It's so close to the Edison & Ford Museum and a quick drive downtown. The first weekend in February is Ft. Myer's big Art Fest, with blocks of regional artists showing lots of originality and good food for lunch - that's worth the trip. The fitness center is minimal, OK for a warmup.
Our booking through Hotwire brought the hotel cost down $20 into the cheap range, same for our rental car for the week.

“Spotless hotel, customer friendly staff, great food, great price for stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

The first thing my husband and I noticed about this particular hotel was the cleanliness of the facility. It smelled clean and fresh throughout the hotel and in our room. Not the typical stale smell you usually encounter in hotel/motel settings. The linens on the beds appeared to be brand new and never used. The staff was customer friendly and very pleasant to deal with. We plan on staying at this hotel again on future trips to the Fort Myers area.
