We recently completed an almost 2 week stay at this hotel and were very satisfied with all aspects of our stay. We had a quiet 4 flr room and they gave us the upgrade to a 1 BR suite since I was a Platinum priority club member. The front desk staff were all very helpful on both hotel questions, free DVD loans, and area activities. The rooms were clean: we have stayed at many Candlewood properties including over 10 weeks across 4 winters in Texas and this one ranks at the top. The flat panel TVs actually had some HD channels for local stations. This hotel is about 5 miles from Ft Myers beach, 6 mi from the Sanibel island bridge and a quiet smaller Bunche beach (great for sunset views) is only 4 mi away. Other than a 5 guys and Ruby Tues there are no close restaurants w/i 2 mi but a nice Publix grocery store is less than 2 mi away. You can do a safe 2 mi walk around the nature center park just south of the middle school by the hotel: we saw a few small gators in the ponds and many birds including ospreys and bald eagles there. The hotel has a small heated pool (no hot tub) but in late January the building blocks the sun some of the morning and mid afternoon. We made great use of the room kitchen and free laundry along with free internet (hint-it still has wired ethernet cables which had better performance than the wireless). This is the only Candlewood we've seen with a meeting room and "living" room that has a usable computer, lounge area, large TV and loaner library. We will definitely consider returning to this for extended winter stays in the future. I would recommend this hotel for 2-3 days or longer stays since it's off the beaten path far from I-75, the only reason I marked down the location a notch. As with most Candlewoods there are things you may want to bring along especially on a driving vacation: sharper steak knives, extra pillows (they only have queen beds, have never seen a king bed in any of this style of hotel), a decent radio/CD/MP3/XM player system, some plastic clothes hangers, extra kitchen stuff especially if you are in the single room units where they only give you enough for 2 people.
