On A recent stay at this hotel we left a very important package behind in our room. Feeling there was no way we would ever see it again, I called, and to our shock and amazement it had been turned in by housekeeper Angela Gores. We could not believe our luck at having such an honest, good person as Angela turn in such an important find. We returned to pick up our package and to meet this wonderful lady who was honest beyond belief. She was everything we expected her to be. A very kind and lovely person. We found this hotel to be very clean and the staff very friendly with one of the most honest housekeepers in their employment. What A jewel of an employee she is. Forever greatful, C.J.&K

I chose this hotel because my family and I were going on a cruise. So we stayed here, thinking we could save the extra cab money and walk. I read the hotel description, within walking distance of the pier....ahahah, ya no!
Thank goodness we decided to take a shuttle. The walk would've been at least a mile. Whatever time of year, a mile in the Florida sun, with tons of luggage would've been horrid. It was in walking distance of a few stores though, ie Walgreens:), Ross, and some restaurants. It's also within close proximity of the beach, a mile or so. Overall it was a good hotel. They have a really nice continental breakfast in the morning, again not enough room to eat. The lobby was really crammed with cruisers during checkout, but other than that, it was fine for a night.

This hotel meets expectations. Very clean, friendly staff, quick and easy accommodations. Nice for the single business traveler.

My one major complaint is breakfast. I don't like being frustrated first thing in the morning, but the compact breakfast area can get more overcrowded than a NYC subway. I was lucky to even get a seat! I will say, big ups to the guy who invented their automatic pancake machine, which churns out flapjacks with the press of a button:) ... If only there was more space, better coffee, and a wider selection of better quality food.

Location sits along the intercoastal just 1.7 miles from the beach across a small bridge. Actually, it's a nice morning jog along a sidewalk over the bridge, up a street, and along the Ft Lauderdale boardwalk. Per other reviews, location is just across the street from cruise ships. Also across the street is Einstein Bagels, Starbucks, Cold Stone, and various other mall-like shops.

I gave this an average review because, for a utilitarian hotel, the breakfast could be better; and, the rates shouldn't be much higher than other HI expresses in the area (as they are). Still, this HI express is clean, conveient, and meets modest expectations.

Free shuttle from the airport was convenient and prompt. Free breakfast in the morning with decent food, juice, tea and coffee. Contemporary decor and double rooms that comfortably fit four people. Free wifi throughout the hotel which was invaluable relative to cruise internet prices. Super friendly and useful staff- they helped us find public transport to major malls (about a mile down the road) and the beach (trolley stop out the front) and list of restaurants, shops and a pharmacy all within walking distance. Note, the cruise ship terminal is not within walking distance as claimed by some due to the immense space the port covers and there is no way to tell which terminal your ship will be in. The hotel has a shuttle through Ace Tours for $8 pp + tip. Efficient and quick service to get to the port. Note, Ace Tours also does chartered mini bus services, which we used to go to Sawgrass Mills (approx $80return for 4people). Loved our time here, to the extent that we cancelled our post-cruise accommodation and returned to the Holiday Inn. I will definitely return for future cruises out of Fort Lauderdale and highly recommend it to others.
