“Great hotel, near shopping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I was willing to do some shopping at the huge Sawgrass mall and this hotel was really a nice found.

Rooms were ok, the have a very cozy inner garden and a good restaurant.

There is a great diner just 50 meters away, same square - Moonlite Diner. Open until late.

if you want to get away of Miami's mess but stay somewhere near the beach and pay accordingly, you should consider this one.

“Dated property”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed there for one night pre cruise. I think the hotel itself is a little dated. Our suite was spacious. We had two queen size beds, a separate oversize sitting room with two sofa beds and a large dining area. The bathroom was huge; but the shower curtain was smelly, the bathtub and the toilet seat were discoloring. Sheraton really should renovate the bathroom.

Room Tip: select rooms away from the train track.

“Very enjoyable!”

FooThe bad; the food/drink is expensive and the restaurant waitstaff have either been made lazy by their built in gratuity, or they're understaffed. Sandpaper covers on the fluff pillows, but they're almost body pillow size so I wouldn't use them anyways. Wouldv'e preferred a saltwater pool as well. If you're a light sleeper request the west side.

The good; the rooms! I love the rooms, big bed, clean, and a little balcony! Its right next to the tri rail, and a bus stop. Shuttle service will take you up to 3 miles away (not quite to lauderdale by the sea, but catch the commercial st bus right to the beach). Staff is VERY friendly and accomodating. The bell boy (older gentleman) was by far my favorite. We've really enjoyed our stay here. Oh by the way, the inside is BEAUTIFUL!

“Just "Okay"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Background:
We booked a hotel through Priceline for 1 night pre-cruise, hoping to stay near downtown Fort Lauderdale or the beach area, however thanks to a missed click, we ended up “winning” the Sheraton Inn Cypress Creek, a hotel about 20 minutes away from the area we wanted to be in which also necessitated a rental car. We decided to try to make the most of it.

Check-In:
We arrived at the Sheraton at around Noon by rental car from Fort Lauderdale Airport. It was easy to find and had plenty of free parking. The outside of the hotel was clean and well-landscaped. The lobby was large and clean with waterfalls, fish, a small gift shop, bar, and breakfast area ($). Check-in technically doesn’t start until 3pm but we were able to check in on arrival, however we were limited to a second floor room facing the train tracks. We didn’t want to wait all day so we opted to take this room. The front desk staff were not the friendliest, seeing me waiting at the desk but ignoring me until they were ready to help me.

Room:
We had some issues with our keys not working which required another trip to the front desk, but it was quickly sorted out. Our room had a living area with couch, dining table, mini fridge, coffee maker with complimentary Starbucks coffee, and an LCD TV, with a separate bedroom with 2 double beds as requested, a dresser, vanity, armoire, and another LCD TV. The bedroom also had a small French balcony, however the door was extremely stiff and difficult to open and close. Overall the room was a nice size and layout, but needs work. The carpet was stained, worn, and lumpy, the dressers and desk had some grime on them, and there was visible dust in the corners and crevices. I’m sure some of these issues are due to the age of the hotel, however a good renovation and scrub would serve it well. The bathroom was also tiny, but it served it’s purpose. Unfortunately the one big con was the noisy air-conditioning in the room. It was so loud that it drowned out the noise from the train track arms closing down below.

Check-Out:
Check-out was fast and painless, and with a $0 bill having pre-paid through Priceline, we were on our way out within minutes of arriving at the desk.

Some Random Tips:
- Beverages at the gift shop cost more than the vending machines located on each floor. Do yourself a favor and purchase them from the machines.
- There are a few fast food restaurants in the immediate area within walking distance, including a McDonalds, Wendy’s, and Burger King.
- I cannot comment on the restaurant, pool, or business centre as we did not use these amenities.
- Wireless internet is free near the front desk in the lobby but there is a charge to use it in your room.

Overall:
We had an “okay” stay at the Sheraton, however we would not book this hotel again. It was okay for 1 night, but I would not have wanted to stay any longer due to the cleanliness issues.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side of the train!

“total dump. ANY hotel around is 100 times better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

i was on a 3 day business trip to ft lauderdale & 1st night i stayed at sheraton suites cypress creek. once you enter the hotel entrance you will notice its old style, it only gets worse from here.
in order to protect this community from this nasty dump, i will strategically summarize WHY this is a dump:
1) old construction & it shows & smells
2) AC Problems in the room. the bedroom is ok, the tv room is hot & wont cool. you will literally sweat ,
3) fridge is v weak & wont cool wats in it unless u stick ur stuff to the back of the fridge... literally stick them.
4) bfast isnshown to you & location of it in hotel, but buyer beware its NOT free. After u eat, they'll walk up 2 u with a 16 $ bill per person.
5) the food at bfast buffet is extremely limited. from the limited selection, the food is DISGUSTING. eggs taste like theyv been microwaved a few days in a row.
6) the gym...oooh thr gym! its a mess. 1 positive thing, they have free weights in gym up to 50 lbs.
7) the wireless is free only in a very small area in the reception. you gotta pay to use it in rooms or in the lounges downstairs or restaurant. RIPOFF !
8) hot water is a problem folks!! u will have to wait a few minutes for it to get to your room?!?!? WTF !
9) the sink will literally drop droplets of water , no flow watsoever. it will take you 15 mins or more to rinse your hands!! again WTF.
10) 3 am they have some sort of lockdown, so ur keys wont work & the recepionist had to walk me upstairs to me room in person. wtf!!! i do appreciate the personal bodyguard lol , but sheraton COME ON !! this is unbeleivable
11) the bed was basically a heap of hay stacked together with sheets on top. if you have back problems, BEWARE. You will be in serious pain the next day. i have seen better beds in 1 star hotels in venzuela.

so why do i give this dump a 2 star??
1) freindly & responsive staff
2) free weights in the gym.
3) nice scenery at the lower level with the fishpond & the turtles display.

would i recommed to others?? not in this lifetime or the next. id rather sleep in my car b4 i go there again.

Room Tip: go to another hotel!!
