My mom and I stayed at the Tropic Cay January 2012 for a week. When we first arrived we almost left and tried to get our money back. There were small bugs everywhere! Our door looked like someone had tried to break in. Everything was falling apart! We decided to stay, and while we were never happy with the hotel itself, it is in a great location. If you don't mind bugs, blood stains on the sheets, plaster falling off the walls, and everything pretty much broken down then you may enjoy how close it is to the beach and great entertainment.

We stayed here for a week in February of 2011. The first room they gave us was so terribly awful that I didn't even go inside. The mold and smell from the door was amazing. The second room they gave us was a huge improvement but still wasn't terribly clean. The bed needed replacing and the couch was so nasty I didn't even want to sit on it.

The first room we were given had a dripping, broken air conditioner about to fall off. Inside there was a terrible smell and ants coming from the bathroom. The second room had bugs all over the bedside table.

I was going to cancel (new years weekend) after reading some of the other reviews, so glad I didn't. This is a cute vintage motel from the fifties. The staff was professional, friendly and very attentive. The room was very clean, new a/c was very cold, new bed (very comfortable too), new pillows, tv with full cable, new lock on door. location could not be better, across from beach and walk to everything. The bar was fabulous, we had an absolutely wonderful time. I can't believe some of the other reviews, this is really a nice place. Thanks to Shawn and Deena for being so great!
